Bridge Over Troubled Waters

Listening to Simon and Garfunkel's Bridge over Troubled Waters makes one understand why music appreciation is part of human life. Shakespeare writes, "If music is the food of love, play on. Everyone wants music, like a good life, soothing, enjoyable, and offers hope. We fall in love because of the hope for comfort and healing it provides.
Communication students know what it means to eliminate noise in their writings, make their message understandable and be eligible for response and applause. But, unfortunately, noise does not attract any meaningful reply since listeners don't understand the message. Therefore, messages and songs writers spend a lot of time crafting their lines.
Writers are aware of their audience, and they work hard to deliver materials that meet the expectation. Meaningful messages attract large followers. Presidential candidates win elections in free and fair elections because they have writers who craft their messages for voters' understanding. Policy goals are grasped compared to losers whose messages are difficult to understand.
Isn't it advisable for politicians before and after winning an election to listen to or cultivate the attitude of listening to good music such as Simon and Garfunkel's message in Bridge Over Troubled Waters? For them to know not all the people in a society are weary and feeling small and weary. The truth is that the people in this group - feeling weary and small - are the reasons leaders are elected for needed care to reach. Talking about people in one group reminds us there is more than one group in a society comprising the upper, middle, and poor classes.
The affluent can care for their own needs when times are rough. The middle class can afford to eliminate excesses and survive. But not the poor. He has to pay high rent to the rich to continue having a roof over his head. The rent is never static but always on the increase, and prices of foods are ever on the rise, and governments are known to go out of their ways to create problems and not solutions.
Government create problem when it fails to control immigration or enact an immigration policy that would not put people's interests at risk. Any policy that allows high rise in the price of gas creates a way for rise in the prices of goods. The high increase in the price of gas would affect the transportation of commodities and the increase in gas price would be felt across the board.
Simon and Garfunkel offer a message expected of responsible leaders. People who are down and out and find life too hard need hope and comfort. "When you are down, on the street, and evening falls so hard, I will be there with you."
We all need to know someone cares about our plights. It is what leadership is all about. Meaning government policies should be carefully oriented and care-centered on the needs of the people, instead of political parties and politicians' magic wands towards winning the next election or working to alienate the minority.
