Donald Trump: Efforts to stop him!
8 April 2023 By Abiodun Kareem Giwa
There was a drama-like event in the United States last Tuesday when former President Donald Trump appeared in a Manhattan court for alleged document doctoring. It led to news booze and headlines like "Trump: Booked!" by the A.M. - a free newspaper published in New York, and "Trump charged with 34 felonies" by the New York Times.
The Democrats believe Alvin Bragg has every right to charge Trump because it was what he ran on as a politician when he sought votes. They also say Bragg would not have investigated Trump without frauds committed. They celebrated seeing the former president appear in court.
Few Democrats like former Governor of New York State, Andrew Cuomo, have slammed Bragg's decision as political. However, many Republicans believe this development is political and not justice. They say Bragg is only a face of the power targeting to destroy Trump and the Make America Great movement. Some say the president may be vulnerable with 34 counts, and others believe the case has died on arrival.
Neutral analysts favor Trump and the Republicans. They cite instances when the Federal Election Board and former prosecutors in New York tossed the case. They are primarily shocked Bragg decided to up a misdemeanor to 34 felonies. Bragg said doctoring a document is a crime in New York but failed to say how he managed to get 34 felonies.
Presenting 34 felonies means Bragg has thrown his net wide like a fisherman determined to get a fish at all costs. And people say he chose to place all efforts on getting Trump rather than confronting the crime enveloping the city. They say it is a misplaced priority unaligned with the people's protection.
There is a throwback to Trump's experience since 2016, before and after the defeat of Hillary Clinton, two impeachments, George Mueller, and other efforts to get Trump down by Democrats. It is also a boomerang for Democrats that Bragg has chosen the week of Easter for Trump's 34 felonies, creating a comparison between Christ's experience with Trump's.
Christ began a movement - feeding the poor, healing the sick, raising the dead, and said he was a child of God, equal to God, and a new king. He naturally drew the ire of the monarchy and his supporters. And here comes Trump with his MAGA movement, suggesting America's greatness needs revamping, having been subdued by inept career politicians. Christ did not talk about making Israel great again, but his acts showed condemnation of the reigning monarchy surrounded by the hungry, the sick, and the dying. Today, many people talk about the change in America's fortune. Some trace it to the attack on the 2001 attack World Trade Center. However, no other politician mentions revamping America's greatness except Trump. Americans are crying silently amid a crushing economic situation and political misdirection. And the power has chosen to satisfy the political agenda than attending to the people's needs. Consequently, America now has a large number of hungry, sick, and dying! Homelessness and its fear have become a staple; mental illness is increasing - leading to gun misuse. But politicians prefer to stop gun use than address the primary cause of the abuse. Work, work, and work, tax, and more tax is their mantra, forgetting that too much work without adequate return can lead to insanity.
They went after Christ, arrested him, and nailed him to the Cross. So would Washington succeed in attempts to get Trump to destroy MAGA? One good news is that the latest effort to break Trump is uniting Republicans rather than creating divisions. But if Democrats get Trump, who is the Peter to continue Trump's MAGA? And what will become the Republican Party? Remember Socrates! The same that happened to Christ occurred to him in Greece. Never rule out what politicians can do to stop a formidable opponent.
