Elon Musk's Mariner Experience
7 June 2025 By Abiodun Kareem Giwa
Elon Musk owns Twitter and uses the outlet for his political interests. Politicizing the organ carelessly his first act of buying Twitter as an independent political player. He allowed the public to question his rationale for turning against the Republican Party that defended his government role against criticism from the president's political enemies. Any declaration of war against the president is morally against his political organization. Why the spat between the president and Musk soon after the latter's disengagement from the administration? News reports say the feud was over the tax bill passed by the House, which is still being considered in the Senate.
First, Musk had no issues against President Trump while in the administration. He was vilified by Democrats for allegedly being given too much access to government apparatus and defended by Republicans. Is it true that the death of the electrical car mandate in the tax bill caused Musk's derangement, as President Trump asserts? Whichever way the issue between Musk and Trump is viewed, Musk's divine task of helping to elect the president has ended, and the Republican Party's relevance for the next subsequent election cycle depends on the administration's performance rather than a money bag.
So, Trump and administration members need to work harder to ensure Americans see the benefits of their jobs. Trump did not beg Musk's support in the last election. The billionaire's decision and the use of his money were voluntary. It was like joining a winning party for relevance and siding in the fight against tyranny in which Trump found himself against his opponents. He helped raise Trump's formidability. He did not get him elected. Musk seemed to seek to become George Soros, and he, who pays the Piper, dictates the tune. He got it wrong if he thought that by splashing money to help elect the president, the president would submit to favoring his business interests over the national interests.
There is nothing wrong with the two disagreeing over an issue, but how each handle it deserves attention. What propelled Musk to tar the president with an unfounded allegation? Why did he support him if he knew the allegation existed at the election time? And if the allegation indeed exists, would the diehard political opponents not have exposed it to derail Trump's campaign? Or is he also charging Biden and Harris for a coverup? People who had thought Musk was an adult were highly disappointed at his tantrum. He was right to criticize the tax bill as not enough to address the country's deficit, but the bill does promise to do what his work at DOGE advises. Further, the administration says since Trump will be in office for another three and a half years, he still has time to tackle the deficit. Some observers think the tax bill will scuttle the Medicaid and the Social Security and are critical of the bill without reading it. Curious observers say the administration is careful to avoid the doomsayers' prophesy against the Medicaid and the Social Security. And the administration says the bill essentially is a fulfillment of the president's campaign promises for tax free overtime hours and tips.
Trump was incredibly fortunate to have an added strength like Musk during the electioneering campaign. He needed divine intervention. The ground under him almost opened up because his diehard opponents did everything, they could not upend him. Trump's experience is a reminder of Israelis' time in Biblical Egypt under the oppression of Pharaoh. God looked down from heaven, saw their helplessness, and decided to send his mercy. God made Musk an instrument for Trump's triumph not because Musk wanted it but because the situation at the time called for it beyond any human comprehension. Was Musk's money responsible for Joseph Biden's failure at the debate with Trump, leading to the disarray among Democrats and the subsequent emergency of Kamala Harris as the liberals' candidate? Harris was not a fantastic candidate, and the Liberal media supported her. The Democratic Party raised more money than the Republican.
Musk certainly requires an anger management session, as exposed by his reaction to whatever may have led to his disagreement with the president, considering his age, level of human interactions, and exposure to business. It would have been forgiving if the event were between a struggling and frustrated fellow and the president. Look at the past; no one who had crossed that path against the president told a happy story thereafter. It began with his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, who called himself a fixer, and another, Michael Avenatti, who stepped into Cohen's unenviable shoes and burnt his feet. Omarosa Manigault pulled a punch that served no purpose. These were allies turned enemies. Let us forget political opponents who fell by the wayside after all their efforts to get Trump down. Former Vice President Mike Pence would not easily forget his patriotic service, which failed to stop his former boss.
After all, Trump is human and imperfect like everyone. It is hard to understand why everyone wants an angelic Trump, and the guy has never said he was an angel. Musk's desire to talk to Trump on the phone after a damaging and unfounded word about the Epstein file and Trump must be an afterthought. He wants the president replaced with the vice president. does he think Vance will submit to the protection of his estate? He surely has a room to join Soros in the Liberal camp and compete with him over who can spend the most to win elections.
The America First agenda is not derailed. Trump is firm. It is about America first, making the country greater, and not allowing an individual's business issue to prevail against the government. Now, like the Mariner in Taylor Swift's The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, Musk must seek an escape from the burden that he has caused himself. He must realize that protecting a personal business interest is not making the country great.
