Lawrence Herbert
Hofstra University, Long Island, New York, has named its School of Communication for Lawrence Herbert, an alumnus of the institution. According to a release from the office of the institution's president posted on the school's web site, the gesture is in recognition of Herbert's support and dedication to the institution and his impact on print and design, as the inventor of the Pantone® color matching system.
Herbert graduated in Biology and Chemistry from the school in 1951. Part of the story recalls his choice of Hofstra for studies and his experience of commuting to school in Long Island from Brooklyn.
