Korean Peninsula: All Eyes On U.S. Warship and North Korea
April 10 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
On April 6, 2017, President Donald Trump ordered cruise missiles attack on Syria, said to be warning shots for embattled Syrian leader, Bashir al-Assad, against the use of chemical weapons on his own people.
Russia has immediate suspended cooperation with the Pentagon after the strike. Observers believe that the world has not seen the end of the Syrian crisis involving the U.S. and Russia.
Aside from Iran, also known as Syria's ally, that has also condemned the U.S. strike against Syria, the only direct face-off has come from Russia, being the protector of Syria and al-Assad, since the beginning of civil war in the country.
Aside from the face-off between Russia and the U.S., the U.S. strike on Syria has continued to generate reactions from members of the public in and outside Syria.
Many Syrians have said that the U.S. has taken the first step toward Syrians' salvation. Questions have been asked among U.S. citizens about the country's plan for Syria. Some people think that a plan for follow up to the first strike should go through the Congress as demanded by some Congress men and women. But a large number of other Americans think that the U.S. does not need to enmesh itself in Syria's internal affairs, and that the warning shots for Assad to stop the use of chemical weapons against his own people were sufficient.
Some others said that the first strike was unnecessary. They said it had achieved little or nothing, because according to them, the same airfield that was attacked had already resumed operations. Expectations among these people was that the 59 Tomahawks dropped at the airfield was supposed to paralyse the entire operation at the airfield for the strike to have justification..
Specifically, Pearl Louis of Queens, New York City, told this reporter that only three of the 59 Tomahawks hit their targets and that others may have been wasted, because of the Russians' interceptors in Syria. Aside from calling the reporter's attention to the fact that the airfield has begun operation again, Louis curiosity reveals that the same date in April 6, 2017, that the U.S. joined the World War 1, was the day on April 6 2017, that the U.S. strikes ordered and dropped the missiles on Syria.
Louis thinks that the coincidence of the dates may be pointing to a likely another World War on the way. His argument is that the coincidence of the dates does not allow room for comfort. Like Louis, virtually everyone is in the dark about the next step the U.S. and her allies will take against Syria, giving the fact that the U.S. has said talks with allies has begun about what to do to get chemical weapons away from Assad's hands. But no one in the Trump administration has answered the question about where the strike will lead.
Just as people are busy contemplating where the strike on Syria will lead, another news report emerged about the reconnaissance of a U.S. warship in the Korean Peninsula. A reminder of the North Korea's all times testing of nuclear missiles and the news that the rogue nation may be nearing achieving success in creating a missile capable of reaching the U.S. mainland. Juxtaposed, Iran is another nuclear seeking country and an ally of Russia and Syria. Russia and the U.S are already at a stand off over the U.S. strike against Syria.

The Syrian chemical weapon imbroglio seems like an unfinished business. Will the U.S. and allies be heading to Syria against the wish of Russia? Many people think that such a move will be dead on arrival at the United Nations, where Russia has always vetoed any action against Syria in the security council. Just as the worry over the U.S. and allies in Syria against Russia has developed and it is being debated, all eyes have shifted toward the U.S. warship at Korean Peninsula.
And for Kim Jong-Un, people say he has been looking for trouble and trouble is coming close home now. There has been no reaction from Jong-Un, to the presence of the U.S. warship close to his home. By the time the chips are down, Jong -Un may realize too late that trouble is not about fine hair cut or baby smile.
However, no one knows where the pendulum will swing in Syria between Russia and the U.S. allies, and between the U.S. and North Korea. What is worrisome for now is the coincidence between the dates the U.S joined the WW1 and the date it struck Syria with missiles, 100 years after the WW1.
