Netherlands on Saturday defeated Costa Rica 4-3 through penalty shoot out after 120 minutes of goalless draw at Arena Forte Nova, Salvador.
Netherlands dominated the game, while Costa Rica stood between the winner and the post.
About four goal bound balls hit the Costa Rica's post that prolonged Netherlands' effort into extra time and penalty shoot out.
Netherlands will meet Argentina in the semi-finals.
Our Write Up Few Days Ago on the Quarter Finals
The quarter-finals' pairing seems to make an easy prediction possible of teams that will move into the semi-finals, safe only the match between Brazil and Colombia. Unless surprise happens in the match between Netherlands and Costa Rica, Netherlands is likely to triumph; Germany may likely walk over France and Argentina may tame Belgium. It will be hard fought quarter-finals, just like the world has witnessed in the preliminary and the round of 16 stages.
