Sierra Leone Loses 200 Lives To Mudslide
August 14 2017 By Abiodun Giwa

People went to bed in Sierra Leone on Sunday, woke up on Monday and heard that a large number of them, who went to bed like them, did not make it back to life, alive.
They had been swept away by mudslide that followed the collapse of a hillside in their neighborhood.
The BBC News report put the number of the dead, based on the Red Cross estimate at 200, and same number of houses swept away.
The report says "Sierra Leone's Vice-President Victor Bockarie Foh said it was "likely that hundreds are lying dead". The number of casualties is expected to rise.
The BBC reports further that Mr Foh told Reuters news agency that the disaster was "so serious that I myself feel broken". He said that the area had to be cordoned off as people were evacuated, with many still feared trapped in their homes.
People who have houses near Sugar Loaf mountain are highly affected, according to available information. People are searching for their relatives and crying uncontrollably.
