Social Media, Love, Craziness and Marriage
June 17 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
There is no escaping from birth to be here. And after birth, human interaction begins, first in the immediate family and goes all the way till when we leave to the other side of the world, with the marriage experience before death.
Birth, marriage and death are tied together in philosophical discussions as three important milestones in human life that are celebrated. As harrowing as death has become for taking lives of young people, it is still celebrated when death interaction involves people who are advanced in age.
Therefore, it is salient to ask that if death is celebrated, why would not birth and marriage? Birth is the beginning of life and marriage is seen as the highest point in human relationship, the coming together of two people in love for the continuity of humanity through procreation.
However, developments in human life have shown that due to the struggle for survival, which human life entails, there is a point that some people have reached and are compelled to question the reason for their birth, and some have been as close as to cursing their day of birth.
Marriage comes into the mix, the coming together of two people from different backgrounds. People with marriage experience have said that no matter how sweet the experience, they said that marriage is not a bed of roses. Whatever the experience of two individuals that are in marriage, it must be a carry over from the relationship that comes before the union.
For there can be no marriage of two people living together without first the period of dating and courting. How sweet that period is. Some people have described and liking it to sugar.
Sheila Ezekiel, a social media afficionado on the Facebook, posted a message and said, "If a man is crazy about u, pray he does not get well, if he gets well know Dat another woman is giving him some tablets." Where does this lead in discussion about human interactions, love and marriage?
Does it mean that when a man falls in love with a woman, he is insane as what craziness stands for in definition? And that it is the wish of the woman that the man remains in that state of insanity for the woman to continue to have him? And that if the man shows a trace of sanity and not blindly following the woman, it means another woman is taking care of him? Is it so in all cases and should be taken and apply to relationships?
Experience has shown that what applies to one may not apply to another. The important in relationships is stressed Krystabel Odurogh, another social media aficionado on the Facebook "5000 people follow you on Facebook. 3000 follow you on Twitter. 4000 follow you on Instagram. 7000 people follow you on Snapchat. Yet no ma wants to follow you to your father's house?"
Odurogh's statement shows that it is not craziness that makes a man to stick to a woman to the point of seeking her hand in marriage. And that for followership to remain steadfast and leads to meaningful relationship, the outward beauty must be matched by some refine attitude. At times reliance on outward beauty alone may lead to the type of disappointment expressed by Sheila in her post and not necessarily because another woman is giving the man some tablets.
It may be true that in some cases, the man may have been lured away by some other ladies with solution to the man's needs at the time.
