Super Tuesday and Biden's resurrection
March 4, 2020 By Abiodun Giwa
Joseph Biden came out swinging in the Super Tuesday's primary election and seemingly resurrected from political demise that his campaign had been conserved by the media.
By midnight of Tuesday into Wednesday, Biden has won in eight states with Bernie Sanders roping to victory in four states.
Biden won in Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Massachusetts, Arizona, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Texas and Minnesota. Sanders won California, Vermont, Colorado and Utah. And Mike Bloomberg won in the Island of Samoa.
It is reported that Sanders will need a win in Texas to breakthrough. The question on the lips of observers is whether Biden will be able to turn the table against Sanders. Some analysts are saying Biden has become the establishment choice against Sanders and that his victory in many of the states that he has won is not without the support of the party's establishment.
From the look of the results from the primary so far, the field seems to belong to Biden and Sanders about who will win the party's nomination. Biden is said to be highly favored by the party's establishment, and that even if Sanders should lead in number of delegates, the party's super delegates could give the victory to whoever they want in Milwaukee at the party's convention. Of course, Biden is happy and so is his campaign mauled by placard carrying protesters, while Biden proudly proclaims that the Tuesday is not called Super Tuesday for nothing! .
Against the assertion that the party is supporting Biden, some top establishment personnel are rejecting the socialism tag that Republican analysts have given Sanders, seemingly like the party is still on very uncertain about who will emerge its candidate and that if eventually it is Sanders they are working to remove the socialism tag before the eventuality.
The certainty is that the party cannot kill the truth, because Sanders himself has not hidden his love for socialism. Apparently, people understand that Sanders has ideas and that he has charisma, but his ideas are much like socialism if they are not socialism. Bloomberg has lost the pathway to nomination and it is hoped he will not forget to hand over the one billion dollar to the party to fight the election. But Bloomberg say he is not ready to drop out , because he is in it to win. Less than five hours after his vow to remain in the race, reports says he had thrown in the towel and has endorsed Biden. Elizabeth Warren and Tulsi Gabbard remain in the race.
Sanders has begun criticism of Biden. He lambasted Bloomberg as the man who thought he could buy the votes and failed. But the question is whether Sanders would have enough delegates to stop Biden's new resurgence with Democrats' decision to coalesce behind Biden..
