Trump, Hormuz, and the Blind Spot

The Strait of Hormuz
Leadership faces challenges that demand vigilance and management beyond inherent power. There is a need to check the blind spot, like a driver constantly does, to prevent accidents. A slight lapse in attention to the blind side could lead to bigger trouble than expected. There is a cost to such a mistake, especially when assuming the electorate understands what is happening. Joe Biden is a recent example: Afghanistan's blunder and the open border at home cost him reelection. He probably believed Americans were at his beck and call.
Now, Donald Trump has fallen into an ambush in Iran and is entangled near the Strait of Hormuz, a region of significant trouble. Iranians seeking freedom, no longer supporting the IRGC, are stranded. The worst that could happen to any country occurred to Iran with the assassination of its legendary leader, Ayatollah Khamenei.
What benefit does America hope to gain by not advancing beyond the Strait, or what else needs to be destroyed that could surpass the significance of killing Khamenei for America to push beyond the Strait? Is it that America no longer has the firepower? Is there a spiritual aspect to the concentration of activities at Hormuz? Many Americans wonder why the U.S. force cannot go beyond the Strait. Why is there trouble when no peace envoy was eliminated, as in "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"?
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, IRGC, is evil, hated by many Iranians, some of whom have suffered from its merciless actions, and the constant calls to eliminate Israel are inhumane. America may not have had a formal war plan, but the objective is clear. No country can ever have adequate preparation for any war that may occur unexpectedly. And war is not called the RED ANIMAL in Stephen Crane's 'The Red Badge of Courage' for nothing. It can humble anyone or power. Liberal pundits saying Trump has no plan or objective for the war lack war knowledge. Justification for the American military presence is in the IRGC attitude to Iranians, its troublesomeness in the Middle East, and sponsoring of terror. No power has the right to turn the gun against its own defenseless population. And no power has the right to play God deciding the survival of another. The latter is worse. God does not accommodate anyone or power equating itself with him.
The IRGC has crossed both lines. However, failure cannot be tolerated from a superpower in a conflict with a minor player - Iran is. It’s frustrating that the war has escalated into a brawl. The political repercussions at home are difficult to imagine. Americans face high gas prices, which minimally impact commodity prices. That’s exactly what the IRGC wants—to generate hatred for Trump in America. His political enemies are eager to score points ahead of the midterm elections. Daily headlines highlight the struggle over control of the Strait and unproductive peace meetings that only give the IRGC room to prolong its existence. Similarly, Democrats are maneuvering for midterm success, and if they win the House, they may challenge and end accountability for the IRGC.
It is a piece of good news that America is succeeding at ensuring there are no mines in the water at the strait capable of endangering its force. However, America needs to move forward and refuse to be bogged down at Hormuz. Yes, the IRGC's decision to control the international waters at the strait is illegal, but this is not a court about jurisdiction. It is a war about might and the show of power. America must humble the IRGC. And the time is now. Take out all the ruffians in the outfit that claim to represent Iranians whom they have subjugated and enslaved, and many killed for religion or sustenance of power. Biden haunted an opponent and lost power. He did not commit any murder. Therefore, why should anyone think the IRGC be allowed to survive with all the blood stained hands of the leaders.
Trump won a second-term election, much to the trap Biden found himself. Afghanistan, open border, and the haunting of his opponent, Trump. It is left to Trump to learn a lesson from Biden's experience by looking in the rear mirror and the side mirrors to avoid the danger in the blind spot. Getting stranded or stagnated at Hormuz may be the blind spot he needs to act to end and move forward with applause.
