When Roof Nearly Collapses on President's Head
December 18 2016 By Abiodun Giwa
A tent's roof forcibly collapsed following a storm on Friday, while President Jacob Zuma delivered a speech on Reconciliation Day, at Gopane, South Africa.
News reports said that Zuma was pulled into safety by aides and that he was unhurt. The cause of the collapse of the roof was a storm, which accidentally coincided with the reconciliation ceremony.
The news report that the collapse began at a stage in the reconciliation ceremony, when Zuma said that the incident was traumatic and painful to South Africans and families. And the collapse completed as he mentioned how government was implementing the recommendations of the Farlam commission.
Observers view the roof's collapse as a sign that the ancestors are angry and they ask whether the storm that takes off the roof of the venue of the ceremony represents a wind of change for South Africa.
Curious observers say that the Friday's incident was one storm that Zuma escaped from getting hurt that how he was ferried to safety could not be hidden from the public, unlike other political storms before that of the day of reconciliation, which many observers believe that Zuma had perfect escape strategy.
But whether he has perfect escape strategy or not, if anything untoward has happened to zuma on Friday due the unforseen storm that ravaged the venue of the reconciliation storm, many people would have said that it was Karma that had caught up with the president, out of vendetta that he cared for himself more than he cared for the ordianry people.
But Zuma was ferried to safety. He escaped unhurt. "He is okay. He wasnt injured," Dr. Bongani Ngqulunga was quoted by the News24.
In many climes, including the African tradition, a roof collapse on the head of an individual or individuals could be ascribed meanings from fortelling irreparable failure or doom.
According to Dreamtation.Com, "the fall of the roof in a dream also points to dangers, - one gets up uninjured, one is not thereby damaged, otherwise must be calculated on failures and losses in a concrete situation, - behind it a warning can also stand before the lofty plans with which one overestimates himself."
Although, the roof only nearly collapsed on the Zuma's head. Meaning that it did not collapse on his head. And may be the roof would have collapsed on his head, had the aides not been fast at getting him to safety.
When Zuma's perfomance as a president against clamors by South Africans for better performance and eradication of corruption, agitation for the refund of government money on the repair of Zuma's Nkandla house and the romance with a certain a corrput gupta family, among other unwholesome instances that have resulted in many South African seeking a restoration to Nelson mandela's era of hope and recent demand for the cleansing of the ANC, roof collapse in real life could mean a bitter end of a show.
