32 Roast in Columbia and Four in Nigeria
19 May 2014 By Abi Giwa
A truck was reported burnt on Monday in Columbia with 32 children dead, and a bomb in the Nigerian city of Kano with four casualty.
Children whose life ended in the Columbia bus were on their way from an event at an Evangelical Church. They traveled in a bus with a keg of gasoline. The vehicle broke down due to a mechanical fault. Fire started while the driver pumped gasoline into the engine to restart it, left the children to uneventful fate and ran off.
Killings in Nigeria have become like a recurring decimal from terrorists' brutal attack on defenseless people and among the often killed are children.
The children's death in Columbia arose from avoidable accident, while the terror death in Nigeria was caused by man inhumanity to man and power struggle. Boko-Haram and their sponsors want Islamic rule unwelcomed by Nigerians.
The world was witnessed in unity with Nigerians, over innocent girls abducted from a school by terrorists.
What is apparent is that we live in a world, where lives are not save and anything can happen to anyone just anyhow and children not exempted. Social scientists tag this order of affairs Dystopia against humans' expectation of Utopia. People embrace religion for safety against evil in the world, but today most places of worship can hardly be trusted for good.
One question most people will ask about the 32 children on their way from from a church and met a dastard fate was how the Church failed to see the evil the children would encounter on their way.
The report from Nigeria said that the area bombed by Boko-Haram in Kano was inhabited by Christians from the South and the area was popular with bars or liquor business.
Utopia is the perfect world and Dystopia is the imperfect world. With imperfection gaining ascendancy in the world, would one say this creation is a perfect work? Is this how the creator intended it from the beginning that some people will at their own whims embark on killing innocent and defenseless people in the name of religion?
The world witnessed a large number of innocent and defenseless people killed in the United States that set off a chain of events and one that put another set of people who knew nothing about how some mad fellows plotted to attack the US and kill innocent people got cut in the cross fire or war. Killing innocent people and innocent children. Arming innocent children to kill for what they know nothing about has also gained currency. Gone are days when people believe children are our heritage, to be nurtured and not destroyed.
