American women's enviable power

Would Serena Williams win the Grand Slam in Lawn Tennis? It is a question that the New York Times posed in a report over the weekend, because winning the Grand Slam - three major tennis titles together in one year - is all that the world's Tennis Queen yet to accomplish as a player.
Don't forget that Serena as an American is exhibiting strength and guts, understanding and mastery of the game, more than any other. And she has just won her 6th Wimbledon title.
Just as you are thinking about Serena, remember that just this passed Friday, New Yorkers welcomed the women American soccer stars with a parade, following the women's winning of a soccer trophy that amounts to capturing the women's soccer world.
American women did what American men have not traveled close enough to accomplishing. This is a statement of fact. People say soccer isn't an American sport, unlike the Baseball, Football and Basketball. In truth, the Baseball is an all men game, just like Football and the men's domination of the basketball here is like the game isn't played by women.
It is like the women are saying, "Hey, guys,we aren't going to complete unduly with you over The Baseball, the Football and even the Basketball, but we would seek out a place in the world of soccer, we are you are yet to show force."
First, second and third victories in the World Cup isn't a joke. It is why on Friday as you walk along the Broadway, you see fire fighters, police officers and correction officers, all working to ensure law and order on the street, to welcome the American soccer star, you remember Ernest Hemingway's "Soldier's Home" and the author's statement about representing your country abroad and coming home victorious. However, these women are unlike Kreb in Hemingway's story. Kreb returned late and he missed the heroic welcome.
Very early in the day about 0700 a.m - the women stars' parade was scheduled at 1100 a.m - men with display of American flags on tables had lined the streets on Broadway and Chamber Street. The weather was clear. People were rushing to work. Some men and women had resumed in their uniforms and they are on the streets to keep law and order.
Quietly, people were talking about the American women soccer team. The newspapers heralded the the team and stories of its awesome achievement in front pages. The women have done what people least expected, in a country dominated by other sports other than soccer.
The American women soccer team has not been conquered by any team, but they have conquered all teams. It is not a man feat. People are saying that the women have raised the bar and expectation for the American men's soccer team. And that when next the American men's soccer team emerges in the World Cup tourney, the world must take note.
It is now a case of what sexy American women can do, the American men can do better, unlike an earlier refrain that that says "What American men can do, American women can do better. The women have turned the table.
