Americans Seek Garland's Resignation
12 August 2023 By Abiodun Kareem Giwa
Let us begin this treatise with lines in Bob Marley's 'New Mystique.' "Things are not the way they used to be. I won't tell a lie. One and all got to face reality now." These words correlate with many of Americans' feelings. They were shocked beyond imagination hearing the attorney general backtracking from a sweetheart deal to a special counsel for Hunter Biden.
First, they say the AG is still on the same path with Weiss as his choice for special counsel. Secondly, his intention is confounding, leading people to say it is time for the AG to resign.
Garland is foisting a two-tier system of justice on America - one for the Republicans and the other for the Democrats. His latest decision has confirmed Americans' fears and convinced them he is not deploying justice based on politics.
Anthony Weiss is in the middle of the storm as the U.S. Attorney in Delaware who investigated Hunter's case for five years, leading to nowhere but a sweetheart deal rather than trial. And the value hammered fell apart before a curious judge who, from every angle, deserves an accolade for following the law against the DOJ's twisted justice.
The judge gave the DOJ and Hunters' lawyers time to redo their agreement. But the center could no longer hold because Hunter pleaded not guilty to his tax evasion question. The DOJ and his lawyers went into disarray. They are coming out with an appointment of a special counsel as face-saving tactics. Yet, things begin to scatter for lack of truth and honesty, showing Garland struggles against the storm. He must be worried about the criticism that has greeted his special counsel announcement. And what should an honorable person do in this circumstance? Step aside! Americans can no longer trust Garland. He is serving himself and not the nation. Compromise against the law is not what the people expect from the head of the DOJ.
Garland should have resigned long ago if it were in the past when the West had a culture of steadfastness and integrity. It was what Africans trembled for in the American political culture. Shockingly, Garland is still sitting tight and unmoved despite all the noise about the double standard of applying the rule of law under him. How many whistleblowers does he want to tell the public that he has removed neutrality in his office? Justice Norieka's stoppage of the DOJ's deal with Hunter Biden ended Garland's claim to a sense of integrity and the DOJ's independence. The type of deviation technique employed in Hunter's case was unknown to anyone until the judge questioned them about it.
The DOJ has tied the noose around President Trump from indictment upon indictment, beginning with Alvin Bragg in New York and followed by Jack Smith on the classified papers. Yet, Hur has been silent over investigations into Biden's classified matter. Both special counsels were appointed almost simultaneously, with a little over a month's separation—Smith on November 18, 2022, and Hur on January 12, 2023. Smith swung into action and announced an indictment in early June, and he planned a hearing to begin on January 2 to dislocate Trump's campaign schedule.
Another indictment is coming from the Georgia investigation on the same election issue. The plan is to send Trump to jail before the elections! Whereas the DOJ is protecting the Bidens from accountability. Observers say the nation may hear something from Weiss and Hur after the 2024 presidential elections. People say the DOJ is working to exclude Biden from Hunter's investigation. And that no one has asked when Hur will complete his investigation on Biden's classified. BBC captioned one of Trump's indictment stories, saying Jack Smith would bring Trump down.
The AG said Weiss advised him to be a special counsel, and he accepted it. Who counseled Weiss to talk to the AG about him becoming a special counsel? Is it a contraception from his meetings with Hunter's lawyers? People are beginning to free their minds to ask questions about the America of yesterday and today. Americans seek redemption and freedom, but they have confusion. Observers from all political spectrums have seen the direction the DOJ and the FBI are taking the nation over Weiss becoming a special counsel. People are beginning to free their minds to ask questions about the America of yesterday and today.
