Americans vote to reward or punish their leaders

Today is like a judgment for members of Congress at the state and federal levels and some governors on the ballot in the United States. Voters will exercise their Constitutional right to choose whether the country will continue in its current direction. Members of the two major political parties have been campaigning, one for maintaining the status quo and the other for a change. It is a day-long expected, and by the end of today or early on Wednesday, Americans will know what awaits them socially and economically.
The Democratic Party occupies the White House and controls the lever of power in Congress in Washington. The Republican Party is seeking to replace the ruling regime in Congress. Democrats have said the changes introduced by their party since the assumption of office by President Joseph Biden are targeted toward diversity and equality. Many people think otherwise.
There is a comprehensive complaint about hyperinflation. Crime is high in major cities across the country, linked to some politicians' insistence to defund the police, liberal bail, and release offenders instead of prosecuting them. There is also the impact of a free border allowing unprocessed immigrants into the country in large numbers. These are issues that observers believe are stacked against Nancy Pelosi's controlled Congress.
The direction the country will take in the next 24 hours is still very uncertain, with the Democrats insisting that democracy will be endangered if they lose control of Congress. They want abortion to be free. And they have suddenly been awoken from slumber to the danger of a high crime rate in the last days before the election. The Republican Party candidates are saying life is tough for average Americans citing inflation's high speed, the rise of crime rate in cities, and the seeming lack of solution from those in power.
The significant difference between the two parties in contention for power is that one uses a high inflation rate to justify a demand for change. At the same time, the other does not think there is any impact on Americans' lives from high inflation.
Therefore, the election outcome will test whether American voters accept high inflation and excessive crime rate and whether they like the hardship they confront with the high rise of prices of essential items. Even though President Biden has continually tied the inflation to the Ukraine war, an excuse many observers see as escapism from responsibility. They cite the disbandment of the XL Oil Line as the beginning of the journey to the rise of gasoline prices at the pump. All efforts by the administration towards reducing gas prices to below $4:00 have failed.
The media's performance in the last two years will always come under the radar, whatever the outcome of the election results. If the election favors the Democratic Party, the Liberal media will have a cause to sing Lullaby for their reporting and analysis. The Conservative media will roast the Liberal press if otherwise. Pelosi will lose power If the Republican Party wins and the Liberal media assumes a new role of hard criticism against the new Congress, something they were alien to under Pelosi as Speaker.
Of course, the Liberal media will not escape sharing their favorite party's glory and fall. It is a day of judgment. One day parents will remember an admonition to children to read their books and not wait until the examination period before rushing to read. Voters will either reward their leaders or punish them for their lousy performance.
