America's presidential election is less than one year away. News reports show that the Republican and the Democratic Party have not officially announced any candidate. However, the media is replete with information about former President Donald Trump leading the polls among the Republican prospective candidates, while President Joseph Biden says he is running again. It is still uncertain that Trump and Biden will be their party's nominee. The former enjoys a high approval rating among his party members, and others favor him based on his last performance as president. Some Democrats moot the idea of getting a replacement for their party.
There is a notable struggle between Republicans and Democrats about the position of Trump and Biden in the polls. Some polls report Trump leading Biden in all the battleground states except one; Democrats fired back that there are other polls where Biden is leading. Although Republicans are excited about the negative state of the country's economy that favors whoever emerges as their candidate, the division in the party is worrying to observers, giving Democrats' determination to ensure Trump does not get on the ballot.
Democrats have not only passed judgment on Trump as unfit to be president again, but they are following up their words with several litigations against the former president, which many observers agree is election interference, but Democrats disagree. They say their efforts are to hold the former president accountable, and they have succeeded in getting notable Republicans like Liz Cheney on their side. She is out of power, losing reelection to Trump's favorite Republican. But she is still beating drums of war against Trump from the sidelines. Another problem for Trump is his former vice president, Mike Pence, who lost in his party's presidential nomination contest but is ready to testify against Trump in the January 6 litigation. struggle against Democrats makes the Republican Party relevant. The Republican party had it going well for it when Jeb Bush came out and said one of the efforts to convict Trump in a court of law was election interference. Observers assumed the Republican Party had closed ranks, notwithstanding Cheney's shenanigans. People ask how the party will manage Pence's side of the story. He is quiet and unassuming. They say he was rarely known around the country before Trump made him a running mate and a star. But he is not the type of politician Democrats deserve in a competition, unlike Trump, whose struggle against Democrats makes the Republican Party relevant. They say the current political climate needs a fight rather than submissiveness.
Some other observers say Trump will emerge as his party's nominee and that if he does, the next president will be a Republican. They see Biden as losing his political relevance for going after Trump from day one in office rather than policies to address Americans' needs. They say if Trump does not become the party's nominee, his struggle and Democrats' fear of him represent a foundation for the Republican's triumph in the coming election. It is also true America cannot suddenly drop support for Israel against Hamas. It is unfortunate Palestinians and their supporters have turned the war between Israel and Hamas to that of Israel and Palestine because of Israel's need to go inside Gaza to destroy Hamas.
