Beirut: Over 100 Die from an Explosion

More than 100 people were reported dead on Tuesday and many more injured, when substance suspected to be ammonium nitrate stored in a warehouse at the port exploded.
The sound of the explosion was heard about 150 miles away in Cyprus. The red Cross in a statement on its website describes the explosion as 'catastrophic and unprecedented.'
More people are reportedly buried under a grain silos and first responders cannot access the silos for the fear that the building may collapse.
Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab has promised those responsible for the explosion would be answerable for the tragedy, according to the Wall Street Journal
The Beirut explosion and the number of casualties represents an expression about the uncertainty of human life. Those unfortunate casualties never knew they would not make it back home when they left for work earlier in the day. Members of their families have been thrown crying and wailing, a role they never planned to undertake, which nonetheless has been forced on them.
