Biden and Putin: Birds of the Same Feather
17 February 2024 By Abiodun Kareem Giwa
Alexis Navalny, the Russian opposition leader, was declared dead in jail on Friday. There is a global suspicion that the Russian strongman, Vladimir Putin, must be responsible for his death: President Joseph Biden and Vice President Kamala’s opinion aligned with the worldwide belief. The Russian bombshell threaded and shared the space with the evidentiary hearing from Georgia’s Fulton County courthouse, where Fani Willis and Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade defended themselves from an allegation of improper affair. Later in the evening, a New York Courthouse judgment against the Trump organization became a focus of attention.
We cannot gloss over the similarity between Navalny’s passage in Russia and the near-death of the Trump organization in the United States. The organization in the U.S., owned by former President Donald Trump, received a fine of $354m for an alleged fraud. And he and his two children are banned from holding executive positions or receiving bank loans in New York for three years.
Most observers see the New York courthouse judgment as political and that it is happening because Trump is challenging the sitting president. It is one of the legal entanglements strewn around Trump’s legs for announcing to take part in the next presidential election. Trump has said many times he is facing legal challenges from the weaponization of the country’s justice system.
There are debates about events in Russia compared to the United States. Russia is an autocratic nation, while the U.S. pretends to be leading the free world. If the events in the U.S. happen in Russia, people will say it is Putin. In the same way, people are pointing to the alleged weaponization of the justice system in the U.S. as Biden’s handwork. But Biden and his officials pretend deafness to what is happening to the U.S. justice system.
America is still a democratic country. What is happening in the government regarding the balance of the justice system as applied to the present and his challenger is strange. They are not on a level playing ground. The investigation into Trump’s alleged possession of classified papers concluded long ago with an indictment from Jack Smith. When Hur released his report on an investigation of Biden’s retention of classified, he said he was culpable but refused to indict for age and cognitive problems.
Biden escaped indictment but fell into another problem: he should be declared incapable of leadership or high office. As the White House grapples with the new angle of the problem, a news report says the FBI investigator, whose information the House relies on the ongoing impeachment inquiry against Biden, is arrested after an indictment by Delaware’s special prosecutor for false information.
Biden said the impeachment against him ended with the arrest of the investigator and the House should drop the impeachment inquiry against him when asked by a news reporter. A news analyst on one of the television stations shows virtually all who have given one information or another against Biden in the past are under arrest or in jail. How can one make any difference between the U.S. and Russia? The world knows Russia an autocratic nation, but not the U.S. Events in the U.S. are the hallmarks of an autocratic country and tyranny. Navalny died in jail, in a reprimand by a just system. Observers have noted that Trump will suffer the same fate with all the cases against him, each with multiple indictments. His hope is the possibility of delaying his trials until after the presidential election.
The power that is working against Trump not only plans to end him in jail but also to destroy his finances and businesses. These are Russian autocratic hallmarks. Ironically, when Biden pointed accusing fingers at Putin for Navalny's death, the other fingers were directed at himself. You cannot claim to lead the free world and plan to place your number one opponent in shackles in an election year.
