Brazil ready to lift the World Cup
2 July 2018 By Abiodun Giwa

Brazil defeated Mexico 2-0 on Monday, in the 21st World Cup competition, playing in Russia.
Observers had said that it was the most difficult match to predict or bet and that the Mexican team could do anything to want to show the world that it had the power to conquer Brazil, considered as one of the best soccer playing countries in the competition.
But the game went the way Mexico's standard level of playing could not contend. The Mexicans showed strength, but their finishing in the eighteen yards box showed lack of mastery of the game as shown against the Brazilians run of play.
With the Mexicans' defeat, Brazil goes into the quarter finals. And it is easy for people to bet on Brazil getting far in the competition with their current form of playing. Yes, people are now betting on Brazil to win the world cup competition in Russia after watching the outing against Mexico.
The first goal came early in the match with Brazilians showing a fast pace and meandering with entertaining forms of passes between the Mexicans, before Williams totally displaced the Mexicans and put the ball on Neymar's foot for a good connection into the net. Williams henceforth became a thorn on Mexicans skin with his fast pace and running from the right to the left and from the left to the right.
The second goal came in the 88th minute of the game. By this time, Williams had shown that with him on the field, Mexicans should forget about defeating Brazil. Like Williams, other players on Brazil's side showed that fast pace is part of soccer and knowing how to use it can demoralize the opponent.
Unexpectedly, the ball was again placed on Firminlo's foot by Neymar after over running the Mexicans from the left flank. The Brazilians capitalized on four men marking Neymar alone, and leaving whole lot of Brazil attackers free to roam, without serious tackles. And Neymar easily used running to outpace the men posted to mark him.
Firminlo, who scored the second goal, actually entered the net with the ball, because it would have been difficult for him to stop after putting the ball in the net, considering the running and the pace he arrived at the spot. Brazil will walk over Belgium into the semi finals, if Belgium plays the same way it has played with Japan.
