
People in Africa view changing a government by force against legitimate election as anathema. This is based on a lesson in democracy taught to the continent by the West. They believe that if a military or any other group seizes power outside winning an election, such a change of government is illegal. As such, they anticipate that the United States will not condone such act and will be on the side of the legitimate government and the people.
But with events in Ukraine and the West standing in support of what is clearly a coup, a new lesson is being taught to a world already fraught with troubles.
The West has indirectly told the world that people rising against a government that forceful seizure of government is legitimate
