Conflagration over Trump's choice of Jerusalem as Israel's Capital?
December 7 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Before President Donald Trump's announcement of Jerusalem as own choice of Israel's capital city, there has been moral equivalent of conflagration from some Arab leaders and the media.
Eventually, Trump has announced Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and that America's embassy will move to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv,
The disagreement with Trump's stance has produced a sort of conflagration from Arab leaders and the media across the globe, more than the real conflagration, which the Arab leaders and the media have told to the world to expect, from Trump's decision to favor Israel against Palestine.
People are asking about the whereabouts of the Arab leaders and the media when the free world descended on Libya with the intention to unseat Muamar Gaddaffi and turned Libya into no man's land? They say all the leaders of countries who took part in the attack and the killing of Gaddafi, and their decision which had turned Libya to its present day equivalent of destruction are enjoying their retirement days, while Libyans and Africans are made to bare the brunt of the leaders' foolishness.
It seems like a case of what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. No one certainly prays for conflagration in the Middle East or anywhere for that matter. But people are saying that if there will be conflagration before peace, what is wrong in having the conflagration, as long as the conflagration will not be forever!
It is easy to hear people discussing that If those who have turned Iraq into what it is today; and those who have turned Libya into what it is today, and that what stops any other leader from taking a decision in fulfillment of a campaign promise, as long as he has not just decided to do his bidding to satisfy a personal ego?
The general question is whether it is acceptable to forcibly made any leader to follow the footprint of other leaders, a footprint that has not produced result in all the years of peace seeking effort between Israel and Palestine? It is clear that America has all along been one leg in Israel and one leg in Palestine. But now, America has decided to show the world it is with Israel and not Palestine. What is wrong with that?
It is now that the world will know whether America has power as it has been claiming or what it has no power to back its foreign [policy issues. Time will tell If Trump is foolish or wise in his decision, just as time has demonstrated the foolishness of certain leaders' decision over issues in Iraq and Libya. Period.
