Cruz and Rubio in flux
March 8 2016 By Abiodun Giwa
Ted Cruz wants Rubio to drop from the Republican Party's presidential contest. Donald Trump has made the same call for Rubio to drop out. Trump said he wants one on one competition with Cruz. Meaning that he not only wants Rubio to drop out, he also wants John Kasich to drop as well. The same is applicable to Cruz.
Though Cruz has some victories to his credit like Trump, but he does not seem to know that the establishment does not want him, just like they do not want Trump.
The reason behind Cruz request to allow him alone take on Trump is that he believes he is the only on who can stop Trump's momentum. While Trump is asking for one on one competition with Cruz, to show the Republican Party's establishment that he is the unbeatable contestant the party has got.
However, Rubio is not dropping out. The call for him to drop out has become heightened with Tuesday's elections and the forthcoming Florida's election. Analysts are saying that Rubio is not certain of winning Florida, and they say it is better that he drops out than face the humiliation of losing his own home state. But the guy is saying he is sure of winning Florida, his home state, but the poll results there does not support his assertion.
Both Cruz and Rubio are confused as none of the two seem to know exactly what they are doing. At first, Cruz would not criticize or attack Trump. Jeb Bush dropped out and then his financiers sought where to take the money and they found Rubio and not Cruz. You get the money anyway if you agree to go on the attack against Trump and Rubio got the message and went on the attack, but going on the attack against Trump had not helped him. Mitt Romney suddenly asserted himself in the middle, howling against Trump's aspiration.
Now, information reveals that Romney has been making calls to states holding elections today asking people not to vote for Trump. Who do you think he is telling people to vote for? Rubio and Kasich and he has left Cruz in the cold. Notwithstanding, Cruz said that Romney had visited him and that Romney had spoken to him and all is well. The problem with Cruz is that he has stepped into the shoe that Bush left behind, attacking Trump and almost forgetting the message that helped him win in Iowa.
Cruz does not seem to know that Bush's undoing is the choice to go after Trump, leaving the message people want to hear, apart from his baggage of being a brother to former President George W. Bush, whom the voters are still under the memory of the sad events of his presidency.
Kasich is the only candidate, who have not missed the way. He has the message and he has not embraced the establishment's hunger to derail any candidate. He is not weirdly ambitious. He fits to be president, and if he fails to make the nomination, making him vice president by whoever makes the nomination may not be ruled out.
Of course, there is nothing wrong in being ambitious like Rubio and Cruz and be changing like the weather and doing the will of the powerful, believing that the powerful can benefit them than voters will. You can imagine Rubio's campaign now accusing Cruz's campaign of spreading falsehood of Rubio's withdrawal from the race, when Rubio is still in the race. The same way that Ben Carson complained earlier of Cruz's campaign spreading unfounded rumor of his withdrawal to gain advantage, when he was still in the race.
