El-Sisi's Misuse of Power
12 April 2014 By Abi Giwa
Field Marshall Abdel Fattah El -Sisi has gained world attention by his ruthless use of power with plans to be next president of Egypt.
He has crushed Muhammed Morsi and the Moslem Brotherhood. He has crushed dissent and his plan to crush the truth in Egypt is not hidden, with journalists around the world protesting the persecution of colleagues on phantom charges of terrorism as Egypt's new low. Egypt's latest use of the cage to permanently shut off accused persons is its 21st century discovery.
This is not the first story about bondage coming from the land of the Pharaohs. The story of the land is rich with power's ruthlessness that often requires God's intervention for captives to regain freedom. One cannot say which is better between the Monarchy overthrown in by the military in the early '50s or the new military usurpers turning to presidents through stage managed referendums.
When El--Sisi appeared on the stage with a coup against Morsi, he told the world that he had no aspirations. He said that all he wanted done was remove Morsi to answer a charge of having been part of a jail break before he was elected president. But it soon became clearer that part of Sis's agenda was killing the Moslem Brotherhood, dissent and the truth and to become president. He and his co-conspirators soon turned into 'evil' walking on Egypt streets killing over 1000 innocent souls to get rid of Morsi and the Muslim Brotherhood. They killed 1000 souls that El-Sisi and his co-conspirators cannot create or bring back to life.
After he had planted fear in the land and people could no longer express opposition to his grab on Morsi and power, he abrogated the Muslim Brotherhood and went after journalists who only analyzed and reported issues based on what they witnessed in Egypt. Is it not ironical and confounding that El-Sisi has come after journalists for reporting the truth his court jesters call biased and a crime in Sisi's Egypt and world leaders in the United Nations are watching as if Egypt is a different planet and that what is happening in the land is not the UN's concern? And if Sisi eventually crowns himself the new Egyptian Pharaoh, he will come and sit in the UN or send a permanent representative to represent self and his co-conspirators in the name of Egypt, despite their blood stained hands?
How does El-Sisi think he can successfully eliminate the Muslim Brotherhood? Doesn't he know his own country's history and the past unsuccessful effort to eliminate the Brotherhood? Is his problem about democracy that produced a member of the Brotherhood as a president and he thinks he can silence everybody and make himself president instead of having a Brotherhood president and it's policies? Does that justify the need to tell a lie to the world he has no aspiration when he has a plan to be president?
Already, Vladimir Putin of Russia has given him a nod to ride on. America had been sitting on the fence; withdrew the aid to the country's military, said Morsi messed up, but mute about the crushing of democracy and Sisi's aspiration in Egypt. Other world leaders are watching with no one to call Sisi's killings in Egypt as equivalent to mass murder. Would Sisi be dragged to The Hague like the duly elected Kenyan president and his deputy? Or the rules that guide political killings and consequences different from country to country?
Sisi and his co-conspirators have killed mass of people, silenced dissent and thought they could kill the truth. Their attempt to kill the truth by unwarranted arrest of journalists has exposed how blind power can make a man, despite having his two eyes in place.
