Ghana: Journalist's Award Deserving Performance
October 9 2017 By Abiodun Giwa

He was on a flyover covering the explosions at the Medina Atomic Junction in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday. He had captured the first explosion, but wanted to capture the second explosion more vividly, and rolled over from the flyover, lost control, hit the ground and died.
Muhammed Ashiley Yakubu would have been deserving of an award for his performance to bring the explosions at the Atomic Junction, were he to be alive. Still, a posthumous award would not be too much for a brave performance.
Ashiley Yakubu worked for Net Two TV and was a member of the Presidential Press Corps. Already, President Addo Akufo Addo has promised Ashiley Yakubu's mother that he will pay for her son's funeral, according reports by the Ghanaweb.
About 10 others were reported injured as a result of the explosion.
