1. Brief Overview of the Project:
Global Voice and Ventures seeks assistance towards reduction of homeless people in Essex County of New Jersey. It will be the organization’s foundational effort at social upliftment for the downtrodden. To be on the street and not in one’s home is incomparable to any other level of a loss of direction. The homeless in our midst requires assistance and a helping hand. Drive Towards Reduction of Homelessness in Essex County
2. INTRODUCTION: This proposal is submitted by Global Voice and Ventures, to seek support towards the reduction of homelessness in Essex County, New Jersey. Global Voice and Ventures is a nonprofit organization whose aim is to help lift those who are down by seeking equitable access to a better life for all. The organization aims to assist people who have been pushed to extreme level of lacking either due to their own mistakes or none of their own fault. Living on the street in the United States, the richest country in the world does not depict a normal lifestyle. The normal lifestyle in this country known to people all over the world is that of living in a wealthy country, whose residents live well. We believe that a turn from this reality cannot be the choice of any resident in the richest country in the world. The object of homelessness presents a picture of poverty amid plenty. Therefore, homelessness can depict a sense of mental health and something worse than poverty, and victims should be given a helping hand to escape the unfortunate situation.
3. NEEDS STATEMENT: Our work is to help the helpless homeless regain former status of being happy members of the community by returning them into a home and reunite them with their families. We are working to address increased homelessness in Essex County of New Jersey, and to create a path to complete recovery through encouraging participants to enlist in education programs that will lead to post-secondary education program for the GED and a Drive Towards Reduction of Homelessness in Essex County 3 pathway to college. We also plan to ensure that participants’ wellbeing is not neglected by ensuring they have access to health care. We need your support to lift-up the homeless in Essex County; to take them of out the cold into a home where they will have the comfort of the heat away from the pang of the cold weather. No normal person can choose to be on the street in the cold without a trace of mental health situation requiring health examination. We believe that posterity has placed the responsibility on our shoulders to help these less fortunate and we are extending our hands to you to join us in this humanitarian undertaking. “With a whopping 2,214 people counted on Jan. 8, Essex County has about 23 percent of New Jersey’s state’s homeless population, according to the 2020 NJ Count’s survey,” the Patch News reported on January 24, 2020. Currently, homelessness in the county is affecting all demographics in the county. Majority among the homeless are reportedly in Newark and many of them live in the open at the Penn Bus Station. 208 among the homeless are adults who are between 18 and 24 years, making up (9 percent) of the number; 1,480 are over 24 years (67 percent), and 525 are children under 18 years (24 percent). The homeless population in the county has reportedly been on the increase for four years in a row, according Patch News. This means that that homelessness in the county has been taking in more people on yearly basis for four continuous years, 2016 to 2020.
The remaining parts of Grant Making that I cannot add here due to space constraint are objectives, activities, program description, management plan, organization chart, use of resources, training, facilities, personnel, evaluation, budget, sustainability, and attachments.
