Greg Abbot: The Winner Man

All eyes are watching Texas and the Federal Government's battle over illegal immigration. Legal and illegal immigration is a prevailing debate in every nook and cranny of the United States. Many Americans hear daily there are about 12 million undocumented in the country, and more are entering through the unprotected Southern border. Why does the government allow unregulated entry? Why are people in the White House not listening to Americans? Many Democrats are also at a loss about what is happening.
Many ask if this is the beginning of autocracy in America because the prevalent politics of immigration seems to be the opposite of democracy. The government does what it wants against the people's wishes. Naturalized Americans became citizens following the due guidelines. However, a difference exists between those who bulldozed their way and others who entered with permits before regularizing their stay.
The problem arises when an immigrant enters the country without a prior permit. The law allows such people to apply for asylum and get a temporary work permit while their case is under consideration. However, that applies to a regular case and not to the irregularity of an entire population of another country marching in.
The current situation at the Southern border spoils the case for undocumented who have been here a long time and are expecting amnesty. The irregular conditions at the border caused friction between Texas and the federal government. It is the Federal Government's job to manage the border and immigration, not to the people's detriment. The current faux pas has dealt a blow to bipartisan efforts to manage immigration.
Texas stepped up protection around its jurisdiction because the federal government failed to do its work. Texas' is like regular residents who are careful about who knocks on their door, knowing people are allowed into the country without control. It is about being security conscious when gang members from various countries are in, and no one knows who is dangerous and who is not.
People say the so-called SB4 Texas law that empowers the police to arrest anyone suspected of illegal entry should not have arisen if the federal government had not abandoned its immigration and border security responsibilities. Questions asked why the federal government abdicated responsibility and whether there should be any recourse to stop Texas.
The federal government's aim still needs to be determined. What is its plan for those trooping into the country? As already noted, it has become an opportunity for anyone worldwide who can get the money and visa to enter South America to walk into the U.S. It is not just the people from Latino countries running from poverty-induced government mismanagement and unacceptable asylum applications.
The question begs an answer, but the federal government will keep the secret of why it opens the door for everyone to come. One 85-year-old Bronx resident said she came from Cuba and had worked all her years in the U.S. without government assistance. She queried why the government is now paying for hotel accommodation and feeding people.
People say the federal government must have a plan for allowing them in. It is using the law as an ass because it has the power under the Constitution. Therefore, it can stop anyone trying to protect their doors from doing so. It is what the federal government's challenge of Texas's SB4 means. It should do its work rather than stop those taking up the job.
Some people say the party in power hopes to gain in the elections from citizen relatives of illegals. Others point to statements from some Democrats who say everyone is allowed to vote. But many of us who lived here for ten to twelve years through the process of naturalization before we could vote to wonder whether these Democrats think the country belongs to them only and can cancel the process at whim for political gain.
