Arriving in the village of Hempstead in Long Island, New York , one is welcomed into a quiet atmosphere. People moving around without the hustle-bustle of a city life.
"Hempstead is the home of Hofstra University and the Islanders," a sign announces to visitors as they walk out of the train or bus station into a space enveloped with rare quietness.
Terrace Avenue, corruptly called Terror Avenue in Hempstead has transformed. The notorious drug dealers, who have turned the area into a market have been shown the way. But the memories of the old days linger. mayor Wayne Hall agreed that it was a bad experience that himself, the district attorney and the police had put behind them. He said that when he assumed office as the mayor, he called the DA and the police for a unified effort that rid terrace of the drug markets and sit clientele. Additionally, he said Terrace Avenue was just like any other place where crime can take place.
