Adamu Barrow, the Gambian President Elect is holed up in Senegal and he cannot return home to oversee the funeral of his eight year old son, following the boy's death on Monday after a dog bite, the Nigerian Punch newspaper reports.
In addition to the Barrow's absence from the country, where he is supposed to be waiting to be sworn into office on Thursday, Yahya Jammeh has reportedly declared a state of emergency after the rejection of his demand by the country's Supreme Court at stopping Barrow's inaugural ceremony.
Jammeh has declared in his state of emergency address to the nation that any acts of disobedience to the laws of the land, such as incitement of violence and acts aimed at disturbing public order and peace banned. Therefore, he has directed security forces to main absolute peace, law and order.
Meanwhile, Jammeh having turned back the ECOWAS leaders, whose aim was to peacefully resolve the Gambia political impasse, there is a report of possible military intervention by the ECOWA countries to relieve Jammeh of forcing himself to remain in office beyond Thursday,19 of January, 2017.
Troops are being contributed by various countries in the Economic community block and reports of war ships moving troops to Senegal from where an assault against Jammeh is being contemplated.
Jammeh has accused leaders in West Africa of interference in the internal affair of Gambia and in the country's election.
