Barrier to Life and Business

Lagos Traffic
Traffic bottleneck is a common phenomenon in certain countries like Nigeria;
where the malady has become intractable, like the country's epileptic power
supply and forming a twin barrier against life and business
Imagine a news report by Thisday Newspapers in Nigeria of a similar situation
in Kenya, citing a similarity between the maddening traffic in Nigeria and the one
in the East African country. It is the cause of a war the Lagos State Government
has declared on the monstrous traffic situation.
The state government's action is seen as act of response to the yearnings of the
people, whose day-to-day live and businesses have been negatively impacted by
the traffic situation in the state. The deadly traffic here has resulted in people arriving late to work; people missing vital
business appointments and businesses suffering incalculable losses.
Depending where people lives in the metropolis, the time spent traveling from home and arriving at work or to keep
vital appointments is as much like traveling from one state to another in the country. And at times longer. There is
no way people can beat the traffic through maneuvering. The traffic is like a cowbell that has set itself round and
imprisoning all, safe top government officials who travel with police clearing the way for them. It is why the sound of
sirens on the road have become second to life.
When you go out in the morning to keep an appointment, you are not sure of getting back home or your hotel until
the end of the day. The possibility of keeping of making twin or more appointments in a day is slim. By the time you
arrive home or the hotel, pray you or your hotel has a standby generator, you will have to continue the endurance that
have experienced in the traffic jam, because of unbearable heat due to lack of adequate power supply.
