Leaders, followers and wealth

People ask that if the electorate really matters, why shouldn't every working family be properly housed, have access to health care and be certain of education for the kids, without having to develop blood pressure, while pursuing these essentials of life.
Modern leaders don't go to war, but they send others to war, unlike Beowulf, the leader of his people (the Geats) and a leader of war against a dragon, the guard of a hoard, where the rich keep their wealth, which none of their offspring is alive to inherit.
Unlike Beowulf in the old English Literature, who died fighting to get back the wealth stashed away by unknown wealthy people, modern leaders have become like the rich and the wealthy, they also covet to be rich and not seeking to die fighting for the protection of the poor. People are saying that no modern leader will go into the type of battle Beowulf engaged himself against the dragon for the people.
Leaders lead and the people follow. Modern leaders are celebrities who know how to enjoy life. They also want to be rich and not be in penury after they leave office, just like everyone want to be rich and be wealth. People go into government, use the influence of the office to amass wealth. No leader think it is sufficient to leave office and live just by the name and the fame without the fame becoming means to open doors to affluence. But the politicians seeking the vote will tell the electorate that he or she is working to take care of of the electorate.
It has since become manifest that the pack of office is one of the reasons politicians seek public office, aside from the fame that the public office engenders. The open doors and the affluence and the fame that the public office create that leads to wealth is one reason that makes many parents in the less developed world decide to invest in their children education at all cost, at the beginning of self government, because the educated elite are the leaders and the envy of the society, and every parent also want own child to one day aspire to work in government, to be like those who step into the shoes of departing colonialists.
Curious studies have shown that as it is in the less developed world, so it is in the developed world. So much money is voted for the maintenance, upkeep and protection of leaders, who also become famous. And many people have said that it is why many politicians will do anything, including lying to the electorate, to become leaders. People believe and say it everyday that the world has shifted from the days leaders take care of the electorate. They say today the leaders' care for themselves before remember the electorate, and that the electorate are merely given the crumbs.
People are saying that democracy is government of the people, by the people and for the people as what is on the paper - reference to the definition of democracy, but that what is obtainable is government by the politicians for the people and that the people have become mere appendix and observers.
The tricky re-definition of democracy in practice by politicians is a cause of common debate, and it is said to be one of the reasons that many Americans are seeking to foist a non-professional politician in the White House in the coming general elections. People are saying that they are tired of promises of a change without fulfillment and tired of being observers of a show about who is mightier among the politicians of different shades of ideology.
