More Trouble for Sterling
14 May 2014 By Abi Giwa
An apology tendered by embattled owner of Clippers, Donald Sterling, for publicized racism statement had been thrown back at him for his continuing racism remarks. Sterling had changed in an interview with CNN that Magic Johnson and other successful black people don't help anybody in comparison with Jewish people.
What people found most annoying in Sterling's apology was his remarks about Johnson and the battle with HIV. Tuesday night, Johnson reacted in an interview with Anderson Copper that the matter was not about him and that Sterling shouldn't have brought him into the matter. He advises Sterling to sell Clippers and have peace.
Public sympathy is with Johnson, while virtually everyone think Sterling is over the board and that he lacks sincerity in his apology.
And the world moves on. But the battle over ownership of Clippers has not ended with Sterling's wife claiming right of owner ship to the club.
