Netherlands' Covid-19 curfew trouble

A district court in the Hague earlier on Tuesday ruled against overnight curfew imposed by government to control the spread of Covid-19. The court ruled that the curfew breached the right to free movement, news reports from the Netherlands have shown. However, the curfew will remain in effect until Friday, amid reports that the Netherlands' prime minister, Mark Rutte, wants the curfew to remain, a report by DW shows.
The development is a struggle between the government and the a pro-freedom group called Virus Truth. A district court reportedly ruled against the curfew. But the government immediately sought an emergency injunction, and a three judge appellate court suspended the lower court's ruling, allowing the curfew to remain in place until the superior court's final decision will be known on Friday.
The higher court reasoned that the interests of the state in the fight against the virus has higher interests than those of the anti-lockdown group, Viruswaarheid (Virus Truth), that filed the lawsuit against the government. The founder of Virus Truth, Willem Engel, said the judge made a grave mistake for upholding the curfew upholding the curfew.
The fight over the midnight curfew between the hours of 9 p.m. and 04:30 a.m. has ranged on the Netherland's streets between protesters against the curfew and anti-riot police sent into the streets to quell the protests. Observers see the curfew disallowing all Netherlands to be off the streets in the affected hours as inhuman and against reason. it means that no afternoon work and means great rush home for people working in the afternoon. Some of the reasons that Covid-19 has been called an economic killer.
Some of the reasons that Covid-19 has been called economic killer. The prime minster Prime has maintained his position that the curfew is necessary to prevent a feared surge in infections from the now dominant and more infectious British B.1.1.7 variant of the coronavirus.
The variant that all countries around the world are working to prevent, but which nevertheless has found its way to so many other countries beyond the United Kingdom. The Netherlands experience is rarely different from other parts of the world where Covid-19 has killed businesses leading to job loses.
However, many residents in the Netherlands think that continued curfew and restricting entire movement in the night is akin to something like a moral declaration of war, while waiting for the court's decision on Friday.
