New York: Hot as an Oven
June 2014 By Abi Giwa

It is the weather; inconstant like a star, hot today and cold the next day. It is hot like an oven today, a reminder of the frigid cold of winter and prayers for the summer to come. And now the summer is here, people say it is burning and extremely burning.
The weather forecast today is 87 degrees with 58 percent humidity. It's the information that prepares people for the excessive heat. But many people say they prefer the heat to frigid cold, when people are required to pack as much clothing as possible to keep warm, and the rich runs away to Florida.
The heat does not force people away to the Iceland. It compels people to go out near naked or spend the whole day in air conditioned enclosure. The subway is as hot as hell and straphangers cannot but pray for early arrival of trains. Buses are jam-packed, the only way to escape from the heat on the street, and you ride your own car at the expense of excessive gas bill.
