Nigeria: Bad Days Return
August 2 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The husband of a 73 years old woman murdered in Ado Ekiti said that the killing of his wife, with her fingers removed and blood drained, shows that Nigerians lives are no longer safe.
People around the the world have heard about Boko Haram and their evil beheading of victims and the fight to eliminate the evil terrorists.
But according to recent news reports, Boko Haram has begun staging a return to the Sambisa Forest, after a lull.
Aside from the Boko Haram killings and kidnappings in the North East of the country, people in the South West of the country have been living with fears of kidnappings and ransoms.
Recently, a young man, who was said to be behind some of the kidnappings in the country, arrested.
But there has been another evil group in the South West called Badoo, whose acts of killing its victims is a reflection of utter mercilessness. No one prays to fall victim of this group. People living in the areas that the group operates have taken to vigilance in their neighborhoods to protect their own lives.
Everyday news reports in the country is showing that it is a miracle for one to go to bed in the evening and wake up alive in the morning. The crime rate, especially homicide is on the increase and more than ever before. Many people see it as the return of the bad days. The days that robbers entered the home of their victims and raped wives of their victims with the men watching as spectators, how their wives were defied.
Boko Haram is re-emerging in the North East and the Badoo members are terrorizing the South West. The South East is not exempt from the rise in crime rate. No part of the country seems to be exempt. Former President Goodluck Jonathan's home in Abuja was reportedly sacked in July, and among the culprits who sacked the former president's home were six policemen, according to news reports by the Punch newspapers.
The sacking of the former president's home likely to have been under police guard shows the fact in the statement of the old man, whose wife was killed in Ado Ekiti that lives are no longer safe. If robbers could enter the home of a former president and carted away goods, how would they not be able to enter the home of ordinary people?
It is why many people believe that small criminals with evil intentions are visiting destruction on ordinary people in their homes and fears of the Badoo has become an order. And Nigeria's President Buhari is sick and hospitalized in London, where he has spent close to five months period.
Recent photograph of the president with some state governors shows that the president may be strong enough to return home to attend to developments, but he cannot without his doctors approval. One of the governors who visited the president in London said the visiting governors advised the president not to rush home.
