Nigeria: First casualty of Buhari's certificate jam
22 January 2015 By Abi Giwa

Brigadier-General Olajide Olaleye, the officer who announced that General Muhammed Buhari's certificate was not with the army, and that no statement of result was found in the General's file, despite having a statement of result listed in NA Form 199 has been reassigned, news reports from Lagos indicate. Olalleye becomes the first casualty of Buhari's certificate jam.
Olaleye is in the middle of Buhari's certificate controversy. He first announced that General Buhari's certificate was with the army and that if Buhari needed copies, he knew the procedure to follow.
But this week, probably after he checked the General's file and found that though a statement of results was noted in NA 199 Form, but there was no physical statement of result or certificate in the General's file. He said the authority do seek originals of academic document on interview, but he did not think that was the case in 1961, when the General wrote his high school's finals and was admitted into the army..
Government College, formerly Katsina College, on Wednesday, January 21 2015, issued a statement of result to the General. The issue of the certificate, which the General swore in an affidavit, was with the military, but had not been found with the military, remained unresolved.
