Nigeria: Tinubu In, Buhari Out

Nigeria's new president and commander of the armed forces, Bola Tinubu, and vice president, Kashim Shettima, began work Monday in Abuja after inauguration ceremony. This means former President Muhammed Buhari formally handed over the rein of power to the new president witnessed by domestic and international audience. Buhari was flown to Daura after, former vice president Osinbajo headed to his hometown of Ikenne, the new president and the vice president drove to Aso Rock, the presidential villa.
In his inaugural address, Tinubu promises unity, build an economy that will ensure survival for struggling Nigerians but first ensuring security of lives and properties as a platform to erect a renewed hope. He talks about displacing darkness in favor of light - currently Nigerians have little access to electricity supply. "I will lower the interest rate. Currently, it is too high. I plan to peg Nigeria's GDP at 6 percent. Subsidy has no ;place in my budget. It is gone.
