Nigerians still awaiting list of Angelic ministers
September 30 2015. By Abi Giwa
Well, on this day, which President Muhammed Buhari has promised to release the list of impeccable Nigerians, whom he has chosen to be ministers, he has released only his own name as the petroleum minister. As the first only Angel in the country, based on the words of his supporters, the release of only himself as a minister for oil was not unexpected. The president is still working behind the scene to ensure that all names on his list for ministerial appointment are Angels like him.
Buhari's angelic drive to ensure Nigeria becomes a heaven populated by Angels appeared in his speech to the United Nations in New York: Buhari told civilized countries to make laws that would stop people from Nigeria who are not angels bringing in stolen money or using developed countries as conduit for stolen wealth.
Now, if you are a Nigerian and you are wondering why the hell your president has failed to fulfill a simple promise of delivering on releasing a list if ministerial appointees on September 30 latest as he has promised, to be screened by the National Assembly, don't be angry. Take it easy and try to understand and bear with your president, because to get Angels' names across the gate of heaven to a place like Nigeria requires several clearances through Angels Michael and other guarding Angels. Wait on fullest of time.
First, for you to be an Angel as a Nigerian, you must have soft spot for the ruling party or be a card carrying member of the party. Therefore, the first list of Angels in Nigeria are members of the ruling party. And the party leaders in their search for ministers must ensure you are either already an Angel or be ready for conversion to become an Angel. And you know the long process of becoming an angel since you have never been one before. Nigeria's Aso Rock Villa is the new heaven and all the people there are angels, and they only will release ministers' list in the fullest of time.
Prince Tony Momoh's had said that if Angel Buhari fails, Nigeria should stone them. Stone angels, when stoning the devil in Mecca has been leading to calamitous loss of lives every pilgrimage, how much lives would be lost when people who are not angels decide to stone angels? Momoh's proposal seems like an invitation into trouble for unwary Nigerians. Hasn't no one hear about civilized countries' response to Buhari's call for them to stop free movement of money into their countries?
Silence. Buhari doesn't understand that the outside world is not an Angelic world and that no country is, and that as imperfect as the system is there, the leaders still strive to enunciate programs or continue the ones already enunciated to care for their people. They enunciate programs and then look for the money to execute the programs. Taxes are raised toward enduring availability of money to execute programs. They don't go out looking for money without programs to use the money for. Buhari needs to wake up and see that the mass of unemployed Nigerians require assistance, and that his government needs to create a program to take care of their needs and then begin to look for money to execute the program. Though Buhari said the country is broke, because the NNPC has been stolen dry by his predecessor and his ministers, but thre days ago, the new man Buhari appointed as Managing Director has said the NNPC is not broke. Who has lied?
Does Buhari think that if as a father, you have a child who is already 18 years of age and you cannot provide for his needs, that such a child will standby listening to your angelic speeches everyday without a solution to his problems and without shoving you aside for him to get out of the house onto the street to go and look for means of survival? It is what has been happening in Nigeria for decades, and many Nigerians uncared for by successive governments have chosen to survive by any means possible. It has created a room for an inhuman system of unguarded survival of the fittest.
Call them any name you wish. It is because governments in Nigeria don't do their work that you have Nigerian scammers all over the world and all Nigerians are so regarded, irrespective of those among them who are hard working and live by their sweats. Let the Nigerian government work and provide for its teeming population.
Buhari's government has not proved to be different from other governments before it. The government has only helped compound the image problem by saying that all Nigerians are thieves and that he is finding it difficult to find angelic Nigerians to be appointed as ministers.
Note: We have published this piece before information surfaces that President Buhari has submitted a list of ministers to the Senate for screening. But the list was not submitted until after the senate's adjournment. It means Nigerians may not know the names of the would be ministers until after the National Assembly's resumption from recess.
