Nigerians to wait two years for transformation
September 21 2015 By Abi Giwa
PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari has admitted that his government has not performed since assumption of office. The president's revelation came on Sunday during a condolence visit to the home of Chief Obafemi Awolowo on the passing of Late Mrs.Hannah Awolowo.
Buhari has asked Nigerians to wait for one or two years for any transformation.
According to the Nigeria Sun newspaper's report, Nigeria's Mr. Angel bemoaned how late Mrs. Hannah Awolowo did not live long enough to witness the change promised Nigerians by his administration.
The report continued as follows: "Buhari expressed regret that the matriarch of the Awolowo family died without “feeling” the transformation a government in which his son-in-law, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his wife, Dolapo who is also her granddaughter, would have brought to the nation. The president, who spoke while condoling with the members of the Awolowo family in their Ikenne, Ogun State country home also expressed his willingness to participate actively in all activities leading to the final internment of the late matriarch.
The president was represented at the condolence visit by the Secretary to the Federal Government, Babachir David Lawal, who said, "Our regret in government is that Mama did not live long enough to feel the transformation this country will undergo with the active participation of her son-in-law and her great grand daughter. This is something that saddens us. Had she waited well for one or two more years, I’m sure she would have left this world a very happy woman indeed, because the fulfillment of what her husband stood for would have finally come to fruition."
It is obvious from Babachir's words, words that can be said to President Buhari that Nigeri have two or more years to wait before they begin to feel the impact of the transformation or change promised by the current government. For this, many observers are saying many innocent Nigerians would grown tired of watching the fight between the Nigerian Angels and the Nigerian Devils, and begin to die of lack of impact of government's presence. They ask that of what use is having a government that promised actions for the transformation or change, but suddenly changed on assumption of office to do only fight against corruption and told Nigerians it never promised to change anything on assumption but only to fight corruption.
This argument that the government did not promise any change or transformation but only to fight corruption was loud during the marking of the government's 100 days in office. A section of the media showed a document of action the ruling party had used during campaigns to seek votes from Nigerians in criticizing the government's failure to live up to expectations and failure to fulfill its promises. The government was quick in its rejection of the said document.
But now, the same government's leader is sending words of condolence that reveals the truth of its performance since assumption of office. The same leader who was the first to reject the said document that his party had used during campaigns to seek votes from Nigerians.
The Nigerian Anges are President Buhari and his guys in office, while the Nigerian Devils are those the angels the corrupt Nigerians. The angels are behaving like they were not voted into office and have since turned the president into a King, whose words are final.
