Saving Lives on All Fronts Without Confronting God

The heat wave in some parts of the United States last few days has been humongous and nearly unbearable, with reported casualties. Weather forecasters said last Monday witnessed the worst on record for the part of the world. Some don't think the humidity is natural. They blame it on climate change. Is climate change worldwide or just in the United States or the West? Geographers know the world is larger than the U.S. or the West, and not all share the same climate; it differs from place to place. A good example is many Africans experiencing winter for the first time in the U.S. say it does not exist back home.
Climate change is not only in the U.S. and the West. There are news reports about how the U.S. has done more combating climate change than its wealthy counterparts worldwide, and it should make other countries follow its good example than continue making Americans the scapegoat.
The U.S. government seizes every opportunity to drive home its readiness to battle climate change. It wants to cancel fossil fuel and coal to appease the climate. There is a new regulation to displace old cooking appliances in favor of new climate-friendly ones.
Although geographers do not differ in teaching different climates for various parts of the world, fossil fuel powering of motor vehicles is worldwide, and so is climate change. It does not mean the cancellation of weather variations from Africa to the United States, Russia, and China.
Many parts of Africa is warm all year round, unlike the U.S. and several parts of the West have weather condition where the winter is often characterized by unbearable cold and the summer with excessive humidity. There is also a case of normal heat conditions in some parts of Africa that people have learned to live with.
Some people love the warm weather, and others prefer the opposite. The differences also account for where people choose to settle. For example, some people have lived in Florida and Texas to enjoy the warm climate. Caribbean people in New York talk about the love of warm weather back home and, like their African counterparts in the Big Apple, remain in the frigid cold and high humidity for the love of the dollar and breakthrough.
People who have experienced hot weather in places like Dubai and Sudan say other parts of the world with hot weather are not alone. What would Ghanaians say about the heat in the country reliably caused by the equator that runs from the North across the country to the South, accounting for darker skin color? Scientists can be right in their account that fossil fuel causes climate change, changing the weather from natural to terrible conditions. And the reason the world is struggling to do away with fossil-powered cars for electric-operated ones. What would become of countries whose income relies on fossil fuel sales when the alternative car becomes an order of the day? Would they go bankrupt or become poor or manage the little income they can muster? The irony is that the material acquisition leading to the massive and increasing use of fossil fuel by the rich, who also fly private planes worldwide, is the foundation of the current environmental problem. It is like ordinary people cause global warming.
The U.S. is battling to limit fossil fuel use, but Caesar John Kerry is flying globally in fossil fuel-powered private aircraft. Should the country lead by example? If the use of fossil fuel is the cause of the high humidity and the government wants to reduce the hardship? Climate change also causes Florida's hurricanes. What about Tornadoes? Does climate change also cause them? Yet, nothing from all regulations to stop them has proved effectively fruitful. Shouldn't we thank God for giving rain and heat in their seasons and showers as assistance in severely hot weather while we seek ways to tame hurricane and tornado-causing monsters? Do we have to duel or compete with God? We are well aware of a heat wave on its way through weather forecasting.
Why doesn't the country seize the opportunity to save lives by efforts to mitigate destruction? Is it a case of leaving people free to expose selves to the danger of heat waves? What has happened to the adage that a stitch in time saves lives? The effort to protect lives should not be limited to canceling fossil but be on all fronts without confronting or challenging God.
