Shall End In Hell As Murderers And Not Marry Seven Virgins
May 27 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Where does the teaching come from that when a Muslim kills an infidel, he or she goes to heaven, and the male murderers are assured of marriage to seven virgins in heaven?
Is this not the teaching that its genesis is supposed to be traced and make to lose its hold on the ignorant, who may have been swayed by the teaching?
Does the teaching any solid foundation in reason or facts?
The thought about this teaching comes up in my consciousness as I think about the killings in Manchester and President Donald Trump's speech at Riyadh, about those who kill the way terrorists do go not to heaven but hell.
And I have just left the BBC's website, where the story has changed, from the killings at Manchester, to Trump's alleged isolation at the G7 meetings. Leaders from G7 countries are currently meeting in Taormina, Sicily. Obviously, the story of the mass murder in Manchester has given way to other latest development in the BBC's choice of stories.
That is the practise of Journalism. The latest breaking stories are more important than old staled stories, since no reader will want to read about old tales in a newspaper. But can one blame the newspapers for moving to other stories? Is not that how it has been from time immemorial, that news media move to other issues, which are recent and interesting, to grab readership?
23 people were killed in Manchester and scores fatally injured. The terror attack occurred a day or two after President Trump's speech at Riyadh, to a gathering of about 50 Arab leaders from around the world, about the truth concerning the evil of terrorism, and what Arab leaders and the world need to do, to get back their countries from the evil.
But just as I left the BBC and switched to New York Times, I came across a story, "Before Manchester Bombing, A Path of Conflict and rebellion". The story detailed how Salman Abedi had been estranged from his family, following the falling apart of his family, cuase his father left Libya and joined the Al-Queda, and joined the fight against Muammar Gaddafi's repression.
But the most important aspect of that New York Times story is that the police have arrested 11 suspects, Britain has lowered her threat level from from critical to severe. Life is moving to normalcy again. But this does not mean that investigations have ended. It is the same cycle that we witness all the time that terrorists kill innocent people. Police make arrests and investigation continues. The dead are buried and no one knows where the terrorists will strike again.
It is possible that some of the suspects of terror may have been ending in jail or sentence to death, but their arrests and convictions, do not seem to stop the bleeding of innocent people's blood. It seems to aggravate the killings across the world. Al-Queda's leader, Osama Bin Laden death has not ended the killings. Already, one of bin Laden's children was reported to have sent a message to the United States. The message is that the bin Laden's apostles are coming to revenge his killing.
Now, no one knows, where the terrorists will strike again. Next time they strike, you or I, may be one of the victims, since the terrorists live among us in a global village, they have unrestricted movement, and they are capable of striking anywhere, using their wide networks. The effect of this on humanity is that many of us have cancelled going to meetings in public places. But can we totally avoid the subways or public venues?
Won't it make some senses to borrow from Trump's words and begin to teach them in schools in Arab land and other parts of the world, that terrorists who kill cannot go to heaven, but that they will end up in hell? Should not the world work to destroy the evil teachings that a man who kills another will end up marrying seven virgins?
