The Chinese government has been ordered on Wednesday by United States to close Chinese Consulate in Houston, Texas, U.S., as part of a decision to protect intellectual properties and information belonging to U.S. citizens.
The order to China for the closure of its Houston Consulate follows a development on Tuesday in which two Chinese hackers, reliably linked to Chinese government, were arrested and arraigned for attempt to hack Covid-19 vaccination information.
Latest information indicates that classified information are allegedly been burnt at the China's Houston Consulate, which the U.S has said is used for collecting information and intelligence. The Chinese authorities have however threatened a reprisal against the U.S, and unless the U.S changes its decision and rescinds the order for the closure of the Chinese Consulate in Houston.
The Chinese embassy spokesperson in Washington is reported as saying there has been threats of bomb on its embassy in DC as part of expression of hate from the U.S towards China. The world is watching to see what will happen if China responds with a retaliation against the U.S, a development that does not seem to bother U.S. officials, whose government's intention is making China embrace openness and transparency.
Meanwhile, the U.S Secretary of State Mike Pompe is reportedly meeting and discussing with the U.S. allies the need to get them on board against the diplomatic face-off between the U.S and China. observers believe the new development may enter into a long drawn phase, if Chinese authorities carry out its threat to order closure of five U.S. Consulate in China.
News reports show that most of the U.S. diplomats in China had left the country due to Covid-19 and that some have just begun returning to China. Questions among observers seek answers to the reason Chinese hackers are after hacking the Covid-19 vaccine information and whether it is true that the hackers have the backing of the Chinese authorities.
Many observers are strong in their opinions that the moment they heard about the arrest of the hackers and their alleged connection to the Chinese authorities, they know their would be retribution from the U.S.
