The Debt Ceiling Debate

Here they go again! President Barack Obama and Speaker
John Boehner sparring over the debt ceiling.President Obama
wants the nation's debt ceiling raised to enable borrowing to
pay bills incurred in Washington. Speaker Boeher says it will be
disastrous if debt ceiling isn't raised, but adds that Americans
will not support raising the debt ceiling without spending cuts, a
pre-condition the president doesn't want.
"The American people would blame all of Washington for not
being able to get all its acts together," the president was
widely quoted in news reports.
The question is: Should the United States raise its debt
ceiling without spending cuts?
Daiel Macaulay, a manager with Nead Organization doesn't
think it is appropriate to raise the debt ceiling. He says you don't
spend what you don't have. If the nation has $10, let it plan its
expenditure around the amount and not go looking to spend $20 which it doesn't possess."With the nation's debt at
$16 trillion, it isn't justifiable to raise the debt ceiling."
Dr. Charles Johnson of Jesus Finest Christian Ministry and employee of Aramark said the debt ceiling shouldn't be
raised. Rather, he advised that spending in countries outside the United States where America has foisted its flag
should be discontinued.
In his view, Joe Murphy, a security executive with Michael Stapleton & Associates said the solution is to spend less.
"Ünfortunately, no administration has done that in the country's history. The problem arises from inability of the
president and the Congress to work together. Although both the presidency and the Congress are there to check and
balance each other's acts, yet they are expected to work together when there is a need to avert crisis. They hardly."
A guy who was asked for his comment in a Manhattan business hub and who spoke off record asked, "Did the
president mention that in his conference, raising the debt ceiling to pay the bills accummulated by the Congress and
doesn't mean spending more? I don't know what that means."
