What ails the society
2 November 2014 By Abi Giwa
Colonel Zida of Burkina Faso has been foisted on the country as an interim leader, following the sudden resignation of a leader after 27 years in office. But Burkinabes are saying they don't want Zida, and they have told him to go to hell, and that if he refuses to vacate the seat he has taken underserved, they will continue with their protests.
Zida heard Burknabes. He knows they don't want him. He knows he has been rejected by them. He is still on the country's number one seat as an interim leader to satisfy the stupid agenda of an Oligarchy and his won personal egotism.
Events in Burkina Faso and Zida's emergence following Compaore's resignation, Genera Honore Traore's emergence and capitulation before Zida's emergence has again created an opportunity with the problem that ails the human society over the struggle for leadership, leadership inability to satisfy the yearning of the followers and followers acceptance of leaders who don't live up to expectation and cannot provide succor for the teeming poor population.
The world has become a global village. There is no place on earth that is heaven. Poverty is universal just like wealth. It is either you are rich or poor or dead. As long as you live, you cannot run away from being rich or poor. The truth is that every nation on earth has its own class of poverty ridden populace. Civilized countries have managed to foist some level of welfarism that has helped to minimize incidences of poor going on the streets to seek redress. But for the lots of the poor, no leader can claim to have permanent solution to mitigate its spread. Homelessness is a curse, and one can never understand why some people should homeless at all for reasons of poverty; sleeping in the cold and and in the sun and eating garbage. Even in the most civilized countries of the world, the evil of homelessness has not been mitigated.
Ireland is a country next to Great Britain. The Irish people have been protesting for over a month decision of their government to impose water rate. In other advanced countries, everyone, the rich and the poor pay the same amount for electricity and gas and in some cases there are insensitive landlords who charge for heat during winter. They make you accept the burden before you sign the lease. And if you consider the way they scrutinize your bank account, check your credit, your pay stubs and want to deny you a lease for lacking the financial power, one would think the world belongs only to the rich. It is the reason everyone is in a struggle to outdo one another in the search of wealth. No one wants to be poor again. Poverty stinks.
Many elected leaders have thrown caution to the wind and would do anything to get comfort, which they have not been able to give to the voters that put them in office. We are all seeking comfort, but some of us after getting the comfort, we want to stash away more than enough funds for their children and grandchildren yet to be born. They have been presidents, senators and representatives and they want to create enablement for their wives and children to continue after them, as if they are the only ones God has raised to live and lead. They are never stupid enough to sit and discuss how to tackle and end poverty and the suffering that that goes with being poor. How would they as long as they did not create it. They would manage it and let the poor continue to live a life of illusion that that the man they have given their votes is taking care of their needs.
Look at my country, Nigeria. look at what the Oligachy in that country has done with the country; sharing position of leadership and the country's wealth and whatever happens to the common people is secondary in their agenda. It is why many poor Nigerians have resolve never to go on the streets to die for the Oligarchy's continued manipulation of the system the way the world has seen happening in Burkina Faso. Look at Nigeria's history, you will see that it has been a journey from one colonialism to something worse than colonialism, with the Oligarchy deciding whom they put in power and how they share the wealth among themselves.
You know it yourself that if you don't belong to the Oligarchy in your country, be it China, Great Britain, United States or Nigeria, you can continue to work and work until God's Kingdom, you will remain a struggling man and unless you luckily break into a financial fortune, and no one knows but only you knows the source.
