Covid-19: United Kingdom restricts travel from 11 African countries

People from 11 African countries have been barred from entering the United Kingdom as part of efforts to curtail the spread of Covid-19's new variant in the country. The U.K. was the first country that reported the virus' new variant and prompted some countries to bare travelers from there. Now, the U.K. has also embarked on barring travelers from other countries towards controlling the spread in the U.K.
According to the Punch Newspaper published in Nigeria, some of the African countries affected in the U.K. travel ban into the country are Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Eswatini, Zambia, Malawi, Lesotho, Mozambique and Angola – as well as Seychelles and Mauritius. From the list of countries barred from the U.K, shows that majority of the countries are from the south of the continent, safe Seychelles that is from the East, and situated in the Indian ocean. No country from the North or West Africa has made the list.
Notably, the new covid-19 variant had raised a lot of new health concern immediately that the for the virus became available. For example, Governor Andrew Cuomo has been critical of authorities in the United States for still allowing people to travel from the U.K. freely into the U.S. without restriction to stop the new Variant of Covid-19 from the U.S. However, recent information has shown that the new variant of the virus has also been found in some states in the U.S. However, all travelers from the U.K. are required to have certification of testing negative to be able to enter the U.S.
Vaccines are already in circulation. But the virus seems not done yet with devastating the humanity. More than one million people have been killed by the virus that emanated from China. The issue of the management of the virus said to have come from animal market or laboratory in China has roughened relationship between President Donald Trump and his China counterpart. Trump had accused China and the world Health Organization, W.H.O, of insincerity, and prompted the U.S. withdrawal from W.H.O.
Latest news on the working relationship between WHO and China is that China has disallowed Who officers from entering China to conduct any investigation about the origin of the virus.
