Hard work pays off. Give it to Trump—the can-do New York spirit manifests in him. He earned the victory. I have hardly seen anyone as resilient. It is the beginning of a turning around for America. The country's Democracy is astoundingly alive, ensuring voting and replacing bad managers. Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris are handsome and beautifully good people but are awful managers—their poor performance in office was their undoing. The crowd around them, including the legacy media, failed to correct them with hard love, which is to tell them the truth about their failing policies. Be Christlike, Moderation in Everything It is rare to resurrect from death. But Christ rose from death and captured death, overcame his foes, and won the hearts of millions across the globe with his care for humanity. If Christ had not cared for the hungry, sick, and dying, his resurrection - a show of power, would have endeared him to few, which explains the futility of modern politics to win hearts.

It led to news booze and headlines like "Trump: Booked!" by the A.M. - a free newspaper published in New York, and "Trump charged with 34 felonies" by the New York Times.

Ukraine, Wars and Diminished Humanity Ernest Hemingway hardly knew there could be another World War when he wrote his Farewell to Arms in 1929. Yet, instead of bidding bye to arms, the World embraced it, as the Second World War followed soon in 1945. The Capstone is the climax of three years of class attendance and learning about the everyday management of human society. I was already a graduate of English and Journalism before studying Public Administration. Would I seek employment as a news reporter based on my passion and lifelong ambition or as a legislative assistant, administrative officer, or administrative manager?
In Wonderful World, Beautiful People, Jimmy Cliff sings Time Will Tell. At six, the singer asks his father what he thinks about his future. And his father answers that he will start to understand when he becomes a man. My Background and the Future
President Lyndon Johnson says, "Ability is stretched or stunted by the family you live with, the neighborhood you live in, the school you attend, and the poverty or richness of your surroundings. And the product of a hundred unseen forces playing upon the little infant, the child, and finally, the man. "
I am Abiodun Giwa, a naturalized American citizen originally from Nigeria. America's political system, crowned by the founding fathers, and maintained over the years, has ensured my education. What is Omicron? Covid-19!
Covid-19's relentless stride against humanity two years after its emergence on the world scene as a dangerous virus from China's Wuhan city is gaining attention. The virus has continued to mutate. First as a Delta variant and now as Omicron variant, based on a World Health Organization, WHO, releases. Two countries have shut their doors against travelers from some countries where Omicron's presence has been confirmed.
Questions and fears about Omicron are worldwide, arising from news reports that the United Kingdom and the United States have stopped flights from South Africa, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Namibia, Eswatini, Mozambique, Lesotho, Belgium, and Hong Kong. Omicron as a name is confusing requiring explanation for people to understand it as another Covid-19 brand.

Biden and the mediaWhat policy mishandling has made Biden so unpopular? Is it the surge of the Delta variant of Covid-19 in the United States or the ruining of the Afghanistan evacuation? Or is it the entire lackluster of the administration since inception?

Wanted: Governance with altruistic purpose Every government has a program of intention. The plan, whatever it is, must address the needs of voters. There must be no confusing the needs of the people with unnecessary antagonism of political opponents, which does not serve the people. Perhaps, it is the reason for the existence of a public policy process enabling the people's representatives to ensure no politically motivated issues gain attention as issues toward becoming an agenda for enrolment into policy.

Igboho says he is battling at the forefront of a struggle for the emancipation of the Yoruba people.
America's 4th July celebration This year's July 4th independence anniversary is on the weekend. It is celebration time! Similarities between Biden and Buhari Presidents Joseph Biden of the United States and Muhammed Buhari of Nigeria are not just elder statesmen; both share the exact age of 78. President Biden, born in November, is just a month older than his Nigerian counterpart, Buhari, born in December. Similarities between the two presidents are beyond their age as both face mounting problems. Buhari has been in office for a more extended period than Biden. The latter is just six months in office but is already struggling like Buhari to get a hold of the direction of the ship of state.
Immigrants, menial jobs, and equal rights Some politicians often like to talk about why they support unrestricted immigration and willingness to have an amnesty for undocumented immigrants. It is the reason for the current discussion about an open border amid already about 11 million undocumented in the country. The new city and the old city The 2021 Memorial Day Holiday in the United States is over, but its memory will linger. Attention has turned to the debate over the surge of gun violence and the increase in the crime rate in major cities. Political pundits on both sides of the aisle disagree over the cause of the rise in violence. Some of the pundits are still seeking to defund the police, while others say defunding the police amid a high crime wave is not the solution for peace in major American cities.
The road Biden has chosen No one likes getting stalled in any undertaking. It is not only irritating but also suggests a failure to complete an assignment at a record time. Inability to arrive on time is called 'going slow' or 'hold up' in a traffic context. Everyone prefers a road with continuous movement, and if possible, avoid nonsensical going slow. There is evidence of people avoiding roads with traffic situations that will result in the delay to their destinations, on their way to work, and when returning home after work.
The changing time and subversion of the process The scripture is called a good book not for nothing but its enriched contexts. There is a time for everything, a time to be born, get into marriage, and depart from a wicked world. Many people think the world is hell because of the seeming wickedness that rules the world. Discernment is needed to navigate the world successfully to avoid falling into the hands of the power that be and their thugs.

The failure of capitalism, socialism, and communism
Most people who are rich today were born poor. They either had worked hard, struggled or came into something that looked like luck and became rich. They have a rag to riches story, and they can claim Williams Shakespeare's words that that they have achieved greatness, unlike those who may have been born great or have greatness thrust upon. Whether one has been born great, achieve greatness or has greatness thrust upon him or her, the certainty is that they are all great and on equal ground.

Explosion stories from Lagos, Beirut, and Tennessee
Recent news reports about Christmas morning explosion in Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States, recalled an earlier explosions in Beirut, Lebanon, and another one in Lagos, Nigeria. The struggle and the struggling masses
The world is inhabited by the rich and the poor. The number of the rich is smaller compared to the number of the poor. Everyone wants to be rich and be where the rich people live. The rich people's domain in advanced countries is called the suburbs, while the poor live in the ghetto. In the backward countries, the rich live in exclusive areas called government reserved areas, GRA.
The date has changed from 2020 to 2021
The chorus of Happy New Year is over. And the date has changed. But life has continued as usual. The only significant change is the date - from 2020 to 2021. The Spring is still what it is with the cold weather in place. The light that marks the beginning of the day has not disappeared. And I slept last night like many of us around the world. We woke up early today to begin another day's journey. I have made a cup of tea to begin the day. And I am on my computer to consider the day and the week's agenda.

The new deaf and dumb Alphas and Omegas

Happy Xmas from my home
It is another Christmas celebrations. As usual, the most important thing at this time is to be alive, while the fierce struggle to beat the Covid-19 is intense. There is a need to accept the fact that none of us is better than those who have fallen victim to the pandemic, and that the only difference between us and them who have departed is that we are in different holes.
Our own hole is our homes. The hole for those who have departed is no longer here. It is the reason that many of us who are lucky to be here in our holes called homes are thanking God that we have not been abruptly forced away against our will by this circumstances beyond human control.

Welcome to the Land of Democracy
Politicians play to win elections and not following their convictions notwithstanding whether it leads to winning or losing an election. Many people think that as part of politics it is either the ploy or the fear of losing an election that has made President Donald Trump to mouth calling the military and still distancing himself from calling out the military to maintain law and order, when it is obvious that looters and other criminals aiming at discrediting the government has taken over the protest of George Floyd's death.

The Difference Between God and Man
God said to Noah to build an ark to save himself and members of his household because the world was wicked and God wanted to destroy everything with flood. People believe it was a punishment for the world's wickedness. And everything died, except Noah and members of his household, and those things God told Noah to take with him into the ark.
It was a clean wipe, leaving just Noah and members of his household. And when the flood was over, a dove came with an olive branch on its beak and when it found no where to land because the water was not completely dried, the dove went off. Another dove arrived with yet another olive branch on its beak and it found a place to land, signifying an end of the flood.

Americans await impeachment outcome
Impeachment trial in the United States will begin at the senate on Tuesday in the case brought against President Donald Trump by the Democratic Party controlled House. This follows the House delivery of two impeachment articles to the senate last week.
Seven impeachment managers were televised walking in a solemn and near mourning attitude each holding a file and a female member carrying a file likely containing articles of impeachment being conveyed from the House to the senate. It was a moment that depicts some thing serious in the annals of the country's history.
This was followed by swearing-in of the Chief Justice John Robert to preside, and senators as jurors, in readiness for the senate trial.

Appreciative Inquiry: "What we are all aspiring to get"
Question: Does it bother you when you see people who don’t know the difference between objective and subjective responsibility?
Answer: Subjective in what context? I say in what context? What do you mean by saying some people do not know the difference between objective and subjective responsibility?
Question: In these days, some people even in government don’t have regard for the difference between objective and subjective responsibility.
Answer: It depends on the way you put it. As a leader in government or nonprofit organization, your objective is always to serve the people you are elected or appointed to serve. I mean that is one thing. The standard thing is the need to be responsive to the needs of the people is very important. A lot of people even in government don’t understand that. I mean again that the subjective responsibility is based the individual. Some folks are smart to attend to the needs of the people and some are not. It is about personal trait about how you think about your position or job as what is supposed to matter to you. Is it to serve the public or serve yourself or personal interest? The bottom line is there is a distinction serving the people you are responsible for.

Christopher M. Hartwyk, the business administrator of City of Orange Township, New Jersey
Question: What are your official ethical guidelines as chief ethics officer in the city of Orange?
Answer: Courtesy. Customers service. There is a solution to every problem. And I basically operate with three questions always at forefront of my brain which is what you are being asked to do. Do you have to apply? Do you have the authority to do it? Do you want to do it? And see how it will come out it will come out in the front page of the New York Post. And usually decision making that follows that very brief matrix is something people cannot deal with and ask questions about government you will make better decisions.

Nancy Pelosi's Gamble
Nancy Pelosi has become an actor - the Hollywood type. There is a need to make the distinction between a Hollywood actor and an actor as speaker of the House pf Representatives. Pelosi is bound by rules bothering on the objective and subjective acts as a government official, unlike Hollywood actors who don't have such limitation. Meaning that Pelosi as the speaker of the House cannot act just anyway she likes to say she wants to help enforcement of accountability the way she wants. It is certain that by her act Pelosi needs a lesson in "Administrative Ethics" about the objective and subjective responsibilities. As imperfect as the impeachment process was as highly partisan, the House had achieved its objective. The House cannot forestall the senate's responsibility, no matter the evil view Pelosi has about the senate leader. Not releasing the impeachment articles to the senate because she wants to be sure about the direction the senate's trial would take is a gamble and one that will add to the problem from the impeachment that the Democrats would face in the 2020 elections.

Revolution Now
Events in Nigeria over the detention, release and rearrest of Omoyele Sowore, an American based political activist, journalist, publisher and former presidential candidate in the last election in Nigeria is a reminder of protest events in Hong Kong. Unlike Nigeria, the protests and demonstrations in Hong Kong have been active and have negatively affected economic activities.
Events in Nigeria have hardly taken off, when the country's Directorate of State Securities,SSS, swung into action and arrested Sowore and Olawale Bakare - linked to what is now called "RevolutionNow". From developments so far, a glimpse on the Nigerian development shows a link between "RevolutionNow" and the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and another Islamic revolutionary group led by one ZAKZAKY- whose leader has been in custody for sometime. The government alleged the link between the organizations and "RevolutionNow". The latter has not released any counter statement.

South Africa: Whither thy Pride?
Some People are saying that President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa has apologized for the callous treatment of immigrants in South Africa in attempts to close the chapter of 'man inhumanity to man' visited on unprotected immigrants.
However, curious observers say that apologies by Ramaphosa and other South Africans is not enough. They contend that apologies cannot replace loss of lives and materials in arson by angry South Africans.
It is noted that it should not be misplaced that South Africans who went after innocent immigrants were angry and that they visited their anger on the wrong people, instead of confronting Ramaphosa and other aimless leaders of their country.

Revolutions here and there
The Hong Kong protesters have refused to give up. And the question has begun to pop about what the protesters really want to achieve amid continuing protests. A news report in a major newspaper describe the protests as illegal. The police and protesters struggle for space. As the police dislodge protesters from some areas, protesters regroup to challenge the police in other areas. The protest has moved to the airport for the second day running. The South China Morning Post reports that hundreds of protesters occupy the airport for second day. Hundreds of protesters have been arrested and detained. There does not appear to be an end to what has begun with a fierce opposition of an extradition bill from Hong Kong to China.
"Is the occurrence in Hong Kong a protest or revolution?" Many people have begun to ask the question. Some of the protesters tend to want the protest as a revolution, but what has happened so far is a fight between the police and the protesters. Although, the protesters have smashed government buildings, They have hardly achieve the type of change that would qualify events in Hong Kong as a revolution. However, judged by the popular French revolution, the definition of revolution takes a different form.

Many Nigerians are crying for deliverance
There is a discordant tune coming from Nigeria, as a large number of people are crying over lack of direction in the country's affairs, and government apologists are saying the crying of many Nigerians is political amid basket of woes, that include economic dislocation attended by high unemployment rate among university graduates and other cadres.
Many Nigerians point to lack of security occasioned by what they describe as unusual killings by herdsmen from the Fulani tribe, a development some people describe as fast turning into an invasion in some parts of the country, creating a near resemblance to Boko Haram's invasion of the North East of the country, and attacks on Christians in some areas in the northern part of the country.

Now some people are suggesting that should not these three important days be fused into one family day, when fathers, mothers and children are celebrated? They say bringing the family day as one entity will stop the divisibility and the tendency to think that mothers or fathers are more important than one another and ends manifest schism in the family.

Sudan still on the edge
A call for civil disobedience in Sudan by the civil society that begins Sunday and expects to end, when a civilian government is announced is in effect, prolonging the disagreement between the military rulers and the civil society over the country's rulership.
Although, the military had overthrown the country's former leader, Omar al-Bashir in April, but the civil society refused to stop its call and protests for democratization of the country against the military's plans to hold on to power. Consequently, the military has continued its killing of protesters who have refused to decamp from the spot they have occupied since the days of their successful protests against al-Bashir. On June 3, about 100 among the protesters were confirmed killed by soldiers and that had pushed the country to the edge, and the resultant call by the civil society for an indefinite strike capable of forcing the military put of power.

There is a turmoil in the Democratic Party controlled House in the United States over what to do about President Donald Trump, who has seemingly turned into a bone in the necks of his enemies.
The turmoil has been caused by a sharp difference between the House leadership that wants to tread carefully against impeachment at all cost and those who wants President Trump impeached regardless of the consequence.

More than a story of who laughs last
Americans have not completely gone over watching the battle between the Democratic party and President Donald Trump. People who follow public events know the cause of the battle between the contenders. Democrats believe the election victory belongs to its candidate and not to Trump. The battle seems to have just begun, rather ending with the Robert Mueller'e report of an investigation into allegation of an unfounded collusion, because the Democratic Party controlled House has chosen the politics of vengeance and vendetta.
The Democratic Party believed that its candidate, Hillary Clinton, lost the 2016 presidential election to Trump, because of an alleged collusion and interference by the Russians in the elections, favored Trump and that Trump conspired with the Russians for that purpose. And Clinton herself had said the election victory was stolen from her.

Nigerians getting poorer amid claims of government's ineptitude
Nigerians are unsure about what is happening to their president and their country. Is Muhammad Buhari the same action leader he claims to be or has claimed credit for past active leadership that does not belong to him? It is a question Nigerians are trying to answer as challenges of ineptitude mount against Buhari's first four year term as a civilian leader and eclipsing his military era credential as an action leader.
Though, reportedly voted for a second term in office in an election marred with irregularities and victory that has been challenged in a court of law by the opposition. Just as Buhari begins his second term on May 29, the Economist magazine reports about half of the Nigerian population has entered into acute poverty under Buahri.

Who owns the Strait of Hormuz?
The Strait of Hormuz is in the news again. Anytime Hormuz comes into the news, has always been over diplomatic issues between Iran and other countries, Iran using Hormuz to want to extract some consensus from the latter.
It is not strange that with another hot diplomatic issue emerging between Iran and the United States, Iran has threatened to block the passage at Hormuz against international maritime.
Consequently. the U.S has sent warships to warn Iran that blockading Hormuz would not be without consequence. Therefore, the tango between Iran and the U.S has always led to a question about the ownership of The Strait of Hormuz.

No collusion - sweeter than impeachment threats
News reports about Robert Mueller's submission of the outcome of his special investigation into allegations of Russian interference and collusion in the 2016 presidential and election in the United States is like a new song title vibrating all over the world. Davido will play, Adeleke will dance
Many Nigerians are in a state of unbelief over an election tribunal's decision to return a governorship victory to the owner, but with fears that the ruling party may still reclaim the victory through control of the courts. Would the power in Nigeria allow governor-elect of Osun State, Isiaka Adeleke to show his mastery of the dancing steps with body and shoulders moving side ways?
Recently, Adeleke became a governor elect and Nigerians saw how good he could dance in places where he showed his dancing steps during the election campaigns. But the governorship victory was taken away from him in what the country's Independent Electoral Commission declared an inconclusive election and a hushed rerun was ordered, and enabled the ruling party exercise of power and and took back the governorship victory from Adeleke in a rerun election people described as nothing better than brigandage!

When the fear of flying becomes real
News about any air crash is never easy to receive. This is not for nothing, but the insane high casualty. Consequently, whenever people will travel by air is always a time for silent prayers, even for people who don't believe in prayers.
Before I heard the news about the Ethiopian air crash on Sunday, I was at the Bronx in the evening to see a family member on a visit from Nigeria. I told her we should be thankful to God for her safe arrival.
The reason for that statement is that I believe that traveling in a technological contraption called 'aircraft' that flies like a bird in the air, carrying hundreds of passenger is worthy of reason to be thankful for safe arrival.
I was browsing through the news on Monday when I read about the unbelievable news of the death of Professor Pius Adesanmi of the Carleton University in Canada. My jaw dropped. What killed him? I searched through the story and found that there was an air crash in Ethiopia and he was on the flight.

Venezuela's journey into a long-drawn crisis
Nicolas Maduro is acting like a normal human being scared of a negative change after a spell - seemingly as a popular president, following a time after Hugo Chavez.
But how has Maduro mismanaged Venezuela to suddenly find himself riding on a Tiger's back as he is currently doing?
Maduro will undoubtedly be having his own quiet moments outside the rancorous situation he has been witnessing on Venezuela's streets, when he can visualize how he has traveled to be where he is today amid crisis and the possibility of becoming a former leader without respect staring him on the face..

The real frivolous declaration of emergency
With the declaration of emergency by Omar al-Bashir of Sudan, the world can now see an emergency that is self-serving, against the one in the United States that is not.
Al-Bashir's act has created a perfect comparison between his own declaration of emergency and the one by President Donald Trump in the U.S.
Liberals and Democrats have erroneously declared Trump's emergency as obscene, because according to them, Trump's declaration of emergency is meant to get the money for the wall he has promised to build at the border to curtail illegal immigration, drugs, human trafficking and stop the easy passage of criminals into the country.

Would Nigerians elect a new breed president?
Many Nigerians home and abroad are watching developments in their country amid expectations about who will be the country's President among about 75 contenders.
The first two candidates, the incumbent President Muhammad Buhari who is seeking re-election, and Atiku Abubakar, candidate for the major opposition party, are expected to slug it out for the first position and other can take the second position
But wait, many young Nigerians are saying it is their time . And these young Nigerians are following many among the 73 young politicians who are seeking to be President because every Nigeria has the right to aspire to any level provided he or she has the level of education, experience and clout.

Nigeria's journey to nowhere
Latest reports show that President Muhammad Buhari had said the INEC had everything needed to hold the election and that the electoral commission had no reason to have postponed the election. He challenged the electoral commission to explain the logistic problem mentioned as the cause of the election postponement.
This is against the reason advanced by nation's Coalition of United Political Parties, CUPP, that the postponement was caused by what it called an attempt by the ruling party to manipulate the election and hailed the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for his courage for the postponement of the election.

Virginia sinfulness and the trouble about sexual interactions
Justin Fairfax, the lieutenant-governor in Virginia may either have resigned or still struggling against his accusers by the time you read this. Majority members of the Democratic Party have called on him to step down amid rape accusations and his own plea of innocence.
Calls for Fairfax resignation is now louder than the calls for Governor Ralph Northam's resignation. What led to Mr. Fairfax rape issues began with the state governor's wearing of black face in a photograph during his college days and the public demand for the governor's resignation left the door open for Mr. Fairfax's elevation.
Notably, the governor's problem emerged after he announced his approval of abortion for babies in trimester of life. It is all about trouble of fair sex and unfair sex, and whether a woman should be allowed to kill a baby from fair or unfair sexual interactions.

Nigeria: Stereotyping for political gains
Many well meaning people would have been in politics but for the seeming life and death issue that they say politics has become.Politics in many parts of the world's confirms. Look at the deadly political situation in the United States between the Republicans and the Democrats.
Leaders from some African countries have ended up in the Hague to defend themselves against life and death politics. When some politicians act or talk, observers think they lack education despite their claim to higher education, one of the reasons for seeking to lead their countries.
Imagine a leader with a claim to professorial standing, defender of the rule of law and a Minister of God, opening his mouth and referring to the entire population of a political party that he and his party face in opposition as thieves. Does that make all members of that political party thieves as claimed by the politician?

Venezuela in the mire
An election is expected in Venezuela. Will the election lead to a desirable change in the country to make life worthy living for Venezuelans?
Obviously, Venezuelans are currently holding public demonstration against President Nicholas Maduro's socialist government protesting to hard economic situation. Protesters and police are dueling on the streets. And people are losing their lives.
All these don't seem to matter to Maduro, who is vying for another term in office, rather than step down for a new leadership. But we all know that dictators don't step down. They instead show the world how popular they are amid turbulence and unpopularity. Maduro is not an exception.

United States in endless gridlock
The media has not stopped counting the number of days of the partial shutdown of government business at the federal level.
Along counting of endless days of the gridlock are analysis of the impact of the shutdown on workers and their families, and other businesses patronized by affected workers.
There are also warnings of the dire consequences from the shutdown if it continues without resolution, and
prompting questions about where parties to the gridlock currently stand.
News reports say that there are two dueling bill, one by the Republicans and the other by the Democrats, to come before the senate for consideration. But there is little or no hope that either will break the gridlock running to 40 days.

Nancy Pelosi wrote and asked President Donald Trump for a delay of the State of The Union Address on Wednesday.
President Trump did not immediately respond to Pelosi's letter. But on Thursday, a letter went from President Trump to Pelosi, postponing her journey outside the country.
The same reason Pelosi had offered for her suggestion to delay the State of the Union Address - government shutdown that Trump advanced in his letter grounding her journey.
One week or so before Pelosi's letter to President Trump, the Democrats had stopped negotiations for a way forward on the wall imbroglio and the need to reopen government.

Theresa May's struggle amid Brexit deal contention
If Theresa May has lost the vote of no confidence on Wednesday, she would have been like the Guyana leader, David Granger, whose loss of vote of no confidence by a single vote has pushed his country for an election earlier than expected.
Some analysts on British politics reported said that if May had lost, Britain would have just few weeks for an election to replace May as the prime minister.
Therefore, May deserves every well-meaning observer's congratulatory remark for her survival. It is not about the margin of votes for her survival that matters but that she survived at all.

Nancy Pelosi goofs over security situation
Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has reportedly goofed over the security situation at the Congress, and asking President Donald Trump to delay the State of the Union Address, until the government has reopened.
Information emerged on Wednesday that Pelosi had sent a letter to President Trump seeking to delay the State of the Union of Address, because she said the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security were affected by the shutdown and their staff not paid.

Bobi Wine of Uganda and fervor of patriotism
Bobi Wine is very popular in Uganda as a legislator and singer, especially among youths. He had wanted to use his music for a political breakthrough to unseat Museveni and become president. But it was one venture that almost turned tragic as the dictator showed Wine the true color of a dictator.
Wine spent more days in detention than he campaigned to be president and managed to be alive on regaining his freedom. The reason was his popularity and the sweetness of his revolutionary songs - popular among people, but which were discordant tunes to the Ugandan leader.

New way in Washington and IRS will make refunds!
A piece of good news emerged on Monday that the IRS will make refunds on tax returns in spite of the government partial shutdown. It is one information many Americans have awaited. With a new way that takes care of what matters first at this time, politicians can continue their debate about border security.
There was a mild disagreement among the politicians over the announcement that the IRS will make refunds, unlike in the past when there were no refunds during government shutdown. Republicans favor the development that the IRS will make refunds, but the Democrats are against it.
According to reports, the Office of Personnel Management in the president's office changed the standing rule against non-refund by the IRS during government shutdown. Many observers just think it is the right thing to do and they are careless about what may have caused the change in rules.

The Nigerian Political Process, Manipulations and Lies
Opposition parties in Nigeria are protesting INEC's appointment of Amina Zakari - President Muhammad Buhari's relative - as chairman of committee for national Collation Center for the February 2019 elections. The parties are also protesting the inspector general of police's service going beyond his retirement date of January 3, 2019.
But the ruling All Progressive Party, APC, Zakari and INEC are standing by Zakari's appointment, with INEC's explanation of Zakari's expected role and Zakari's denial of relationship with the president, making observers think that Zakari's likely role remains highly questionable, and the INEC chairman's effort at manipulation.

American Politics: Status quo vs. New ideas
Nancy Pelosi emerged the new speaker of the House of Representatives on Thursday and in a bombshell described President Donald Trump's wall as immoral. It renewed the rigid position of the Democratic Party against President Trump's plan for a wall as part of the country's border security.
Americans had expected a way forward in the impasse over the border wall and border security. The issue of insecurity at the border had continually made the need to secure the border a political campaign issue from time to time, and became a major campaign promise by the incumbent president to build a wall breaking with the past about border security measures that never secured the border.

Elijah the Tishbite's experience
Not many people know of Prophet Elijah as told in the Christian scripture, his revelation of the truth, King Ahab's anger against him, how he fled from Israel and rode a chariot-of-fire into heaven to escape Ahab and Jezebel.
Whether it is possible to ride a chariots-of-fire to heaven is not the subject of this discourse. Reason is about two people's current life'e experiences that are similar to Elijah's, to remind anyone who knows about Elijah the Tishbite's experience in
comparison with their own.
The first person in this matter is Senator Dino Melaye of Nigeria currently running and hiding from the police seeking to arrest him, and Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah whose properties have been reportedly destroyed in Ghana by youths angered by his revelations.

Christ, Constantine the Great, Xmas, Poverty and the Wealthy
There was no Xmas before the birth of Jesus Christ, whose birth is today celebrated with Xmas. Possibly without the wealthy class opposition to Christ as a messiah who raised the dead, made the blind see, healed the sick and fed the poor, and the Christ's punishment and painful crucifixion, and positively turning live's around, there would have been no Xmas.
Apparently, there are Christians who don't believe or celebrate Xmas. They say Christ was not born on December 25, and they would ask anyone who engage them in a debate to show the place in the scripture, where December 25 was mentioned as Christ's birthday.

Learn from Christ's simple lifestyle and activities geared toward helping others. He used his God given gift to help others without asking to be paid. He did not open a shop to turn his talent into a money making venture, but rather he threw out money lenders, he said had turned God's house into a place of buying and selling.
The feud and vengeance in America's politics and effects
The government has been shut down in the United States, whether partially or fully. The re-opening for business will depend on a rethink by powerful Democratic Party senators to do the necessary.
But everyone is a witness to the fact that instead of doing the really necessary, it is the enactment of passing blames that has become an order. The White House is blaming the Democratic senators, and the Democratic senators are blaming the White House.
But everyone is a witness to the fact that instead of doing the really necessary, it is the enactment of passing blames that has become an order. The White House is blaming the Democratic senators, and the Democratic senators are blaming the White House.
And sadly too, we are witnesses to Trump's reversal of almost all of Obama's programs. This raises a question about how long this feud and vengeance between Republicans and Democrats would continue and the desire for progress stalled against the country. Isn't there a need for a bipartisan effort to resolve this feud? Do one need to recommend that American law-makers in both parties read 'Beowulf' for them to understand the evil effects of feud and vengeance in a human society?
United States: As government shutdown looms
Would the government shut down in the United States or not? The question would be answered before the end of Saturday, as Americans await the outcome of votes in the senate for a new spending bill that include the $5 billion for the wall at southern border. The bill was passed by the House late on Thursday. But observers are uncertain of its fate in the senate.
It will be Eureka, if the bill passes the senate. many people are saying. But if the bill fails to pass the senate vote, it means that government shut down could happen as early as Saturday.

The fear of ISIS and Iran in Syria
The fear of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant is real. This is attested with opposition against President Donald Trump decision to pull the United States out of Syria. There is reported opposition from majority of military officers the media interviewed on the matter.
Law makers are divided on the issue, and some front line members of Congress among Republicans law makers are opposed to the U.S. withdrawal. Reason? The fear of the ISIS, and boosting Russia and Iran.

Performance evaluation for Loretta Lynch
Loretta's Lynch's interview by law makers raises a question about what to be gained in her role in the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email as secretary of state ?
Lynch was United States' attorney general during the events leading to the 2016 elections. Americans have not quite forgotten her impromptu meeting with former President Bill Clinton in an aircraft in Arizona.
At the time, Hillary Clinton was a presidential candidate, and she was under investigation for using a private email during her tenure as secretary of state.

Flynn on trial and Comey on trial
James Comey is still very much in the news as a news maker meeting with law makers from both parties behind doors. Comey is defending his time office as FBI director. And Michael Flynn, former National Security Adviser, appears in a court for sentencing for lying to the FBI.
News reports say that Flynn told the court that he lied to the FBI, amid a controversy over an alleged flawed procedure employed by the FBI in Flynn's interview. This has raised a question about why Flynn's admission than denying an earlier guilty plea. Further raising a question about any other problem Flynn may want to avoid for accepting to go down without a fight.

Republicans and Democrats dance to prosecutors' music
Political events have been hectic in the United States last few days with Robert Mueller, James Comey. President Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in the news.
The Democrats are drumming support for the Robert Mueller's investigation into the allegations about Russian collusion in the 2016 elections.
The Republicans are in support of another investigation in the Congress into James Comey's role in the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email use and other matters about Russians beyond the elections.

Aisha Buhari's bombshell: Two cabals in control
Aisha Buhari, wife of President Muhammad Buhari of Nigeria, is proving to be courageous, daring to speak out, where others so privileged will not.
Not necessarily for challenging Nigerian men to stand up to the cabals she says are holding the country's development back, but that cabals determine decisions in her husband's administration of the country.
Although, Mrs. Buhari tries to paint the government in the country as achieving the objectives as expected of it, but that the country would have achieved much more without the two cabals she says are undermining the country's administration.

The issue of the investigations into Jamal Khashoogi's murder has become a thorn, with Turkey calling for a comprehensive investigation, against the Saudis and the United States' position.
The Saudis have indicted 11 people for the murder and five of the 11 are reportedly waiting to die by hanging, following swift investigation by the Saudis, after the uproar by Turkey on the inhuman act committed at the Saudis embassy on Turkey's soil.

Georgia's election and Abram's lame excuses for losing
Stacy Abram is off the mark, concerning reasons for her loss in the just concluded election in the state of Georgia, in the United States. A little education about the state's civil service in the state of Georgia, and a little research, are all that are required, to know why a Republican is in the governor's lodge there.
It is true that the Democratic Party was the ruling party in Georgia up to three years after the state's civil servants were thrown into the employment-at-will against their will in 1996.

The sixth grader vs. hospital administrators
A father and his daughter are on a visit to a hospital for the daughter's need for a chest X-ray test. While they are waiting at the hospital's reception area for registration, the daughter sees a sign that reads "No eating or drinking." Meaning that eating and drinking is forbidding in the reception area.
"Daddy, why do they have the "no drinking and eating" sign here, and still with a water fountain standing here?"
"They don't want people to turn the place into eating and drinking center. It means you cannot eat and drink here," the father responded.
"But then there should be no water fountain here. The sign is wrong and it should be taken off," the daughter said. "The hospital should either remove the sign or leave the sign and remove the water fountain." she insisted. She rises from her seat, goes toward the water fountain, takes a cup and obtains a cupful of water and drinks.

Nigeria: Old guards fight for control
Nigerians have seen Muhammed Buhari, a former military leader, working for four years, as an elected president.
It is time for judgment with the country heading into a presidential election, and the ruling party has given the incumbent president the nod for reelection.
His challenger, Atiku Abubakar, a former vice president for eight years of two terms, under President Olusegun Obasanjo, is not a mean challenger.
Both Buhari and Atiku belong to the country's old school politics. Both know what it takes to win elections, in the absence of the culture of transparency.
Many Nigerians are saying that the ruling party and the government under Buhari have failed the country, but the government's spokesmen and Buhari's public relations men have said that Buhari's government has achieved so much that he is expected to defeat his challenger.

Cory Booker's fighting spirit and.... Watching the storms around Trump
"The Democrats have nothing to run on", the White House press secretary, Sarah Sanders, interjected on Wednesday, an answer to a reporter's question, about the intense pressure and the storms around President Donald Trump.
Sander's statement was an encore of what seems to have become the Republican Party's refrain to the Democratic Party's song about the possibility of the latter's hope to regain majority seats in the Congress in November, if the election swings in their favor.
When the Republicans are saying that the Democrats have nothing to run on with which to convince Americans to vote for the party in the midterm election, the Democrats will remind listeners about the alleged Russian interference on the 2016 election and the ongoing investigation by Robert Mueller.

Love as a terrible driver
A young lady appears on a New York City street last week, wearing a vest with an imprint that says love is a terrible driver. Many people agree that love does lead people on wrong and dangerous paths and at times to fatal decisions.
Lovers may disagree with the author of the imprint that says love is a terrible driver, but they cannot with another saying that says love is blind and for which many people agree. It is still a mystery why love is said to be blind, but few people disagree or will disagree with the saying.
Is it not therefore appropriate to agree with the author that says love is a terrible driver, if we agree that love is blind from the perspective that a vehicle driven by anyone in a blind mode can be terrible?

Immigration Battle: Who is culpable for separation of children from parents?
The border between the United States and Mexico has turned into a sort of battleground between law enforcement agents and immigrants coming into the U.S. The U.S. Department of Justice says the immigrants are coming into the country illegally and reserves the right to enforce the law without zero tolerance.
As the mid-term election draws closer, there is an argument about who is responsible for the separation between children and their parents in efforts by law enforcement to enforce the law. Democrats have accused the Republicans of culpability and the Republicans have pushed back against the Democrats.

Abiola, Buhari and politics without altruism
Notable politicians and some eminent Nigerians gather in Abuja on Tuesday, in honor of Bashorun MKO Abiola and to commemorate June 12 as Democracy Day.
June 12 was the day election that Abiola believed to have won was annulled. A posthumous award is bestowed on Abiola by President Muhammed Buhari, Nigeria’s current leader.
Many Nigerians have asked whether Buhari’s honor to Abiola is not a Greek gift, aimed at catching votes in the next presidential election, when Buhari will be seeking reelection.

The summit of 12th June 2018
The summit between the United States leader, President Donald Trump, and the North Korean strongman, Kim Jong un, on Tuesday in Singapore, tops the list of events for the 12th June 2018..
All eyes and the world's attention are on Singapore. This attention will not cease until the world knows the outcome of the summit between the world's foremost democratic leader and the foremost dictator.
There is a sign that Jong un wants to dump the garb of the world's foremost dictator. Yet, no one seems certain about what will be the outcome of the summit between the two leaders. And no one expects anyone who is not a soothsayer to know about events of the future.
But the U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who had met and discussed with Jong un prior to the summit arrangement, said that Jong un had told him about his readiness to denuclearize, because according to Pompeo, Jong un said the path he had been treading up to this moment, no longer works in the modern situation.

Who is working to destroy Saraki and Melaye?
It is too early to say that Nigerian politicians are crooks or thieves or criminals. But the trend of police actions against members of the legislature is showing a possibility there is a power acting in a manner to give the country's politicians the unenviable tag of criminality.
The latest information from Nigeria that the president of the country's senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki has been invited by the police in connection to a robbery case in Offa must be troubling for curious observers of political events in the country.
Senator Dino Melaye case was the first that caught the world's attention. The police said he was wanted in connection with a criminal case in Kogi State.

U.S. pulls out of Singapore NOKO summit
Has Kim Jong un taken the hook?
Kim Jong un of North Korea seems to have no choice than go ahead with the planned summit with President Donald Trump of the United States.
Despite the cancellation of the summit this past week by President Trump, due to what he calls North Korea's anger and open hostility, development has shown that the U.S. has continued preparation for the summit between the two leaders, amid believe that North Korea has agreed to denuclearize.
If it is true that North Korea has agreed to denuclearize, it will mean a great diplomatic victory for the U.S. effort toward North Korea's complete denuclearization. It could also mean that despite North Korea's tough stances in the past weeks that it would not denuclearize, it was a case of an empty barrel making the most noise.

China's weirdly inhuman style
The widow of a writer and deceased Nobel prize winner in China, whose late husband was deemed as a dissident by authorities, has been under house arrest for eight years, South China Morning Post reports.
Authors and international literary figures are reportedly requesting her freedom, saying her years under house arrest have taken psychological toll on her life.
Can you Imagine someone under house arrest for eight years in the 21st Century without trial and not for any known crime, other than that her husband was a dissident?
This victim of the most harrowing experience from a dictatorship and most undemocratic norm is Liu Xia, the widow of Laurate Liu Xiaobo. She has never been charged for any offence by Chinese authorities. And yet, in talks about likely freedom, the Chinese authorities are considering that she could only be freed on the condition never to leave the country

James Comey, Robert Mueller and Rod Rosenstein
Where is Robert Mueller investigation into Russia's alleged interference into the United States election heading? Is the investigation a case of seeking conviction at all cost, when it is almost clear that there is no collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and the Russians?
Many observers are asking these questions, in view of the current stand off between Mueller and Trump's legal team, over the former's request to interview the president and the president's team opposition to Mueller's request.
The major question among curious members of the public is about the compelling reason that may have necessitated Mueller's request to interview the president. They ask whether Mueller has eventually established a collusion between the Trump's Campaign and the Russians.

Who wants Dino Melaye out?
Senator Dino Melaye's recall process by Nigeria's Independent Electoral Commission, INEC, ran into a hitch on Saturday as there were not enough people to verify signatures for the recall. News reports showed clearly that Melaye floored whoever were the powers who wanted him ousted from the senate.
Some members of Melaye's constituency reportedly said their signatures were forged and that Melaye had adequately represented them in the senate.
News about Melaye's travail began unfolding on Monday morning, when he was reportedly arrested at the Abuja International Airport enroute Morocco on official assignment. He was released after few hours of arrest, but only to found his home in Abuja surrounded by police officers armed to the teeth on arrival home from the airport.

Assad's paradise and Allah
Bashir Assad, Syrian strongman, needs no introduction, as the man whose country is no longer a paradise, and has turned into a theater of death and sorrow. On Sunday, Assad headed to his paradise on earth: Russia, after a rain of missiles from the United States, United Kingdom and France.
While in Russia, news reports showed him walking into the Russia's parliament, where he met with Russia's elected representatives. Although, no words transmitted about the topic of Assad's discussion with the representatives. But a visit soon after the rain of missiles can give a glimpse or an idea about Assad's message to the Russians.

New biggest threat for Trump?
That Russia is no longer the biggest threat for the Donald Trump's presidency is the inference one draws from the current analysis in the news. And that the latest biggest threat to President Trump is the FBI's investigation of the president's lawyer, Michael Cohen.
How has time changed? Has time really changed and the investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the United States' presidential election is no longer the biggest threat to Trump's presidency?
Can this development be an admission by news analysts that there is nothing credible in the Russia's alleged interference in the United States' 2016 presidential election?
If these analysts had beaten their chest in very recent past and said that Russia was the biggest threat for the Trump's presidency and it turned out that all they had said were flukes, could people believe them saying another new development represents the biggest threat?

Muhammed Buhari's Albatross
President Muhammed Buhari has not killed any bird. But he has a situation like that of a sailor in the killing of an Albatross, in Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.
Observers are saying that until the Nigerian government may have successfully brought Leah Sharibu back from Boko Haram’s captivity, Buhari’s situation will be perceived as worse than that of the sailor’s killing of an Albatross, in regard to Buhari’s aspiration for a second term in office.
Observers are saying there is nothing specifically wrong for any president to seek a second term in office. But they are equally saying political issues such as the refusal of Boko Haram to release Leah Sharibu because of her Christian status, while other girls seized along with her have been released, does not augur well for Buharis’ presidency and especially his reelection bid.

Winnie Mandela's stature and the Mandela's standard
If Nelson Mandela still lives in our minds and he seemingly has not died, despite his transformation to mortality and burial, how then can one think or say that Winnie Mandela has died? Yes, the news said that Winnie had transformed to mortality, but did that mean the end of her?
Certainly not. Nelson Mandela left this shore on a last journey some years ago, and he is still remembered for his good works and service to humanity. Nelson Mandela’s standard is currently used in South Africa and outside the country to judge the level of service by his successors and others, among whom none has measured up to Mandela's standard.

Climbing the mountain of life
Human life and the struggle for survival or aspiration for breakthroughs is like the climbing of a physical mountain. The difference between the climbing of the physical mountain and the mountain of life is that all human beings climb the mountain of life endlessly.
The climbing of the mountain of life is endless, because human aspiration and the urge to make a difference only terminate with the demise of human life. Miley Cyrus captures the essence of this aspect of human aspiration in her song, "There will always be another mountain," in a title called The Climb.

Death and unconventional burial on the mountain
Faith and religion are two inseparable entities despite their close relationship, because religion adherents are expected to be faithful and those lacking required faith don't belong.
It isn't that people of faith, in and outside religion, don't suffer wrong or experience tough and troubled times. It is that the faith strengthens and enables the faithfuls stand without faltering.
The difficulties it entail to climb a mountain will not pose unconquerable challenge to the faithful, unlike the impossibility that an unfaithful will see before him or her. Humans face mountainous challenges everyday requiring unwavering faith to scale, with some lingering in the determination to climb the mountain and others easily give up

Trump turns the corner leaving opponents to wonder
Trending information on Tuesday about President Donald Trump announcement of reelection campaign manager comes like a sunny day in the winter amid snowfall.
So much unexpected, coming against the run of events. Does it mean that the Trump's camp has thrown the investigation into alleged Russian collusion in the United States election behind and it is getting ready for another round of election victory?
No one is hundred percent certain that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has concluded his search for connection between the Russians and the Trump Campaign, and people opposed to Trump have been saying there is a need to wait and see the direction Mueller’s investigation will take, after the last new about the indictment of 13 Russians and three Russian companies, without a single American in the fold.

Syrians' cries of pain and anguish, mental and emotional wreck
The United Nations' Security Council voted unanimously on Saturday for 30-day ceasefire in the Syrian war. The ceasefire does not mean an end to the infanticide among siblings in that country, over who should rule the country and the type of political system most appropriate for the country.
The ceasefire does not mean an end to the killings and upending of normal human life, because it is not the first ceasefire, which beginning has witnessed bloodletting. No one is sure whether an end is in sight or not. And just before the latest ceasefire announcement, there have been endless echoes of pains and anguish from Syria.

Whose instrument for political change is Boko Haram?
Many people are saying it is unbelievable that Boko Haram can still successfully kidnap 100 school girls in Nigeria, over the latest news that the country has again been thrown into the dark and uncertainty, about the whereabouts of over hundred girls kidnapped by Boko from a school in Dapchi, Yobe State, on Monday.
The world is still in grief over the 2014 kidnapping of more than 200 girls in Chibok, with its misfortune to President Goodluck Jonathan into an unlucky fellow. And for students of literature and people with the knowledge of literature - a reminder of what the King Hrothgar suffered with Grendel’s attack on the Danes’ in ‘Beowulf’, before ‘Beowulf - the Swedish warrior’ killed Grendel and its mother.

Leadership isn't eight hours job
"Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown" is a common saying among Africans in Nigeria about leadership. People believe the saying represents a direct reference to the enormity of responsibilities of leadership, emphasizing uneasiness associated with lives of people who are leaders.
These days everyone wants to lead and there seems to be no one who wants to follow, because people think that leadership is a cup of cake. But destiny does not allot all to lead. Few people lead and vast majority follows, like it or not.

Mueller's lead and end of story?
If Special Counsel Robert Mueller is a news reporter, his statement on the indictment of 13 Russians and three Russian companies will lead the report of all his indictments. Earlier indictments will form just part of the body of the report and may have no impact on the report.
The reason is that people are saying the 13 indicted Russians and three companies actually committed the offense of interference in the U.S election based on the statement of indictment, while other earlier indictments are just by the way - unconnected with Mueller's investigation about external power's interference with the United States elections.

The United States Federal Bureau of Investigations, F.B.I, had information that the Florida killer was capable of committing school mass murder, but failed to stop him!
A New York Times' report has revealed that the F.B.I received a tip last month about the impending school murder that claimed 17 lives in Florida, which the F.B.I acknowledged, but said it did nothing to stop it.
Consequently, Rick Scott, the Florida governor has called on the Christopher Wray, the head of the F.B.I, to resign.
"Seventeen innocent people are dead and acknowledging a mistake isn't going to cut it," Scott is quoted in the Times' report.

South Africa: Zuma's fall after pride
Jacob Zuma seizes to be president of South Africa, following his resignation on Wednesday, after he first refuses to obey the ANC's request to quit.
Two reasons Zuma gave for his resignation are the fear of the 'vote of no confidence' and 'impeachment' from office, which would have culminated on Thursday after his refusal to obey his party.
After Zuma defied the ANC's order for him to step down from office on Tuesday, the party threatened and scheduled to support the opposition for a vote of no confidence hearing against Zuma in the parliament on Thursday.

United States' Open and Close Government
The foremost home of democratic government in the world has taught another lesson about open and close in government. The government was shut down twice in the last two weeks over disagreement on the country’s budget and was opened again on both occasions after agreement on the way forward.
It was a period to trade policies against policies and a period of give and take, when rigidity in politics was eschewed, at the expense of ordinary people's interests. The Federal Government and a section of the media opposed to the former's policies continue their war path, while another section of the media supportive of the government’s policies drums home its support.

South Africa: Zuma's trouble gets bigger
The pressure for Zuma to step down as president of South Africa is rising. It is a tide that does not seem to be going away. A group, comprising ANC and SACP, have announced plans for endless demonstration and workers strike, from Monday. They say the strike will happen, if Zuma fails to step down by Sunday night.
President Jacob Zuma is going. He will go, and he must be gone, before the next election. The procedure for his departure is what is still unknown. Will he give the ANC a fight against the request that he should step down for the party to be able to unite toward the next presidential election?

Aare Ona Kakanfo is a popular title in Yorubaland given to any man perceived as brave and capable of defense of the land, as generalissimo.
But the history of the past Aare Ona Kakanfo title holders is not one that gives room to cheer anyone stepping into this chieftaincy shoes without trepidation. It instead raises a question about why anyone will knowingly accepts the trouble.

Trump's one year ride in uncertainty
What does President Donald Trump's presidency remind you? Isn't it about uncertainty of human life and about waking up alive after every sleep, when it is actually possible to go to sleep and not wake up?
No one was sure he could win an election, but he did against all odds. He fought his way in the party of his choice, humbled over nine promising presidential candidates and confined the Clinton political dynasty into irrelevance.

Nigeria's unenviable fight against corruption
He has no choice. He has crossed over to APC. With all the allegations against him by the present APC led federal government, Obanikoro has no choice than to decamp to APC where he believes he will be protected and shielded.
But this is one area I have a quarrel with Buhari’s administration, the moment people who have allegations against them or are being investigated for corruption join APC, then such people are now shielded, and no further actions taken against them. This is not good for the anti-corruption campaign by Buhari. It negates the change agenda.

Nigeria: Four Million Jobs loss in 2017
Four million Nigerians lost their jobs in 2017, and instead of employment rate climbing, it has gone down by two percent - in comparison to the previous year, major Nigerian newspapers reported.
What does this mean for the government in power? First, it isn't the type of report that any government will want to see in print, because the report does not show that the government is working hard enough to create jobs.
On the other hand, if the government believes that it has been working hard enough to create jobs or that it has created the enablement for the private sectors to create necessary jobs, that effort has yet to be seen in term of upward job numbers.

Very few obsevers had thought Ramaphosa could defeat the former wife of a sitting president, and a sitting president who did not hide his support for the former wife.

Kenya: Absolute power under scrutiny
A debate, between Kenya's attorney general, Githu Muigai and members of the opposition party, about and 'treason' what constitutes 'high treason', has brought absolute power in Kenya under scrutiny.
Muigal has told the oppsition party lawyers that they are misleading Kenyans with the purported plan swaer in Raila Odinga as the people's president, according to a report by Standard Digital newspaper online.

South Africa: Avoiding imposition of tyranny of the majority
It is clear from reports of the South Africa's ANC elective conference in Johannesburg that whoever becomes the party's leader will be the party's flagbearer in the country's 2019 presidential election.
And the fact that the party has the majority votes, its candidate is favored to succeed Jacob Zuma., the outgoing president.
"We are in the majority," President Zuma reportedly said at the conference, as he rallied members of the party to unite against the disunity that reports say now characterises the party.

Who leads South Africa: Dlamini Zuma or Ramaphosa?
Who will replace the outgoing President Jacobs Zuma of South Africa? Will the ANC voters favor Zuma's former wife, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, or his deputy, Cyril Ramaphosa?
Political observers are not about witnessing another trasitional drama like they recently did in Zimbabwe, when the vice president was hounded out of the country by the president, to favor his plan for his wife to step into his shoes, before fate intervened on behalf of the vice president.
However, there is a seeming similarity that recalls Zimbabwe's episode, because Dlamini-Zuma as outgoing President Zuma's former wife is highly favored by Zuma to succeed him, while Ramaphosa is also fighting for political survival against his boss' former wife.

Why money matters for protection against vicissitudes of uncertainty
The scripture describes money as the source of all evil. Yet, money is something everyone seeks after, because life is miserable without enough of it. You want to own a roof over your head or pay rent and other bills, you need money.
And whoever has experienced the pang of hunger for lack of money to get food will understand the evil of lacking money.
It is very difficult why many people among the obviously rich don't want to agree they are rich when asked whether they are rich or poor. They prefer to tell the world they are comfortable. Yes, everyone want to be comfortable. To have money when needed to access essential needs.

Moore's accusers and opponent win Alabama's seat
Roy Moore's opponent, Doug Jones, was called winner late Tuesday night, in the special election to fill Jeff Session 's vacated seat in the senate.
It was apparent that Moore's accusers had succeeded at truncating Moore's chances in the election and that his opponent, Jones, had benefited as a result.
President Donald Trump immediately congratulated the winner, though he had campaigned feverishly in support of Moore, irrespective of the damage the accusation against the candidate had caused his party..

Impotent suicide bombing in New York
There was a failed terror attack early on Monday morning at the New York City 42nd Street train station. A pipe bomb strapped on by the suspect went off injuring him, but unable to claim any innocent life.
The incident at a very busy time that workers were hurrying to work at 7:30 am, was a reminder of Farouk Abdulmutallab's episode on a Delta flight, when a bomb he had in his underwear went off, but failed to achieve its damaging objective.

Time to pay attention to Kenya
Will political developement in Kenya go the way of the recent political events in Zimbabwe? It is too early to know.
Just few weeks ago, attention was called on this to developements in Zimbabwe and that the country's political turn of events were reporters' delight.
Soon, events in the country snowballed into inferno like situation that later led to the end of the world's oldest president in office.

First snow in New York behind Houston!
New Yorkers and other people in the North East of the United States are expecting their first snowfall today. Resultantly, the weather has been extremely cold in the last 12 hours and the cold will not subside until after the pregnant sky has dropped its load on the earth.
The wonder about this year's snowfall is that New Yorkers and others in the North East are expecting the first snowfall, while some other areas like Houston that have been strange to snowfall in the past already have snowfall this winter, leading to some video postings on Facebook heralding the first snowfall in Houston

Nigerians and fears of imported rice
Nigeria's central government has declared that all rice in the country are poisonous, except rice produced in the country, according to reports by The Punch newspapers. And that no single imported rice in the country has been found to have been imported with the use of an e-Form, used for importing of such products.

Kenya's Odinga to be sworn in as what?
Uhuru Kenyatta was sworn into office for the second term after he won an election described as a 'sham' by the opposition. Now, there is unbelievable information from Kenya about a planned swearing in of Raila Odinga in Kisumu, on December 12.
All Kenya newspapers are reporting plans about a swearing in and warnings from several quarters, including the Kenya's government, for Odinga to stop what will amount to treasonable felony, an act punishable with death.

Conflagration over Trump's choice of Jerusalem as Israel's capital?
Before President Donald Trump's announcement of Jerusalem as own choice of Israel's capital city, there has been moral equivalent of conflagration from some Arab leaders and the media.
Eventually, Trump has announced Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and that America's embassy will move to Jerusalem from Tel Aviv.
The disagreement with Trump's stance has produced a sort of conflagration from Arab leaders and the media across the globe, more than the real conflagration, which the Arab leaders and the media have told to the world to expect, from Trump's decision to favor Israel against Palestine.

IOC's sledge hammer on Russia
The International Olympic Committe has banned anything Russia from the 2018 Winter Olympics, except athletes free from doping and who want participation without the use of Russia's name and colors.
First of its type ban on any country not to fly its flag or particpate in any of the competitions, is sequel to the outcome of investigations into the widespread use of systematic doping by the country's athletes.
This means that Russia's flag will be absent in the Olympics, just as any Russian athlete who wishes to participate will have to do so as an independent athlete and will not be allowed to wear the country's colors or do so in the country's name.

Libya still no man's land
What have you derived from the news from Libya? Do you see any trace of a breakdown in law and order in the country?
Do you think selling people into slavery with money exchanging hands and humans as commodities can take place in a land with law and order still in place?
The first statement of concern about Libya concerning the sales of humans as slaves is what has become law and order in the country.
And the next statement is that Libya has not recoverd the slip into anarchy from the war situation following the strife against Muamar Gaddafi and his resultant elimination.

Flynn's guilty plea draws attention
General Michael Flynn's guilty plea for lying to the FBI draws many Americans to their television screen on Friday evening to watch analysis of the news reports about the matter..
As a former senior official in President Donald Trump's administration before he was removed from office, many people think his decision to cooperate with investigators against the White House may spell trouble for Trump.
But it is yet unclear whether Flynn's decision to cooperate with the Special Counsel investigating alleged collusion between Russian officials and members of Trump Campaign to influence the United States' presidential election will be a decisive factor in the investigation.

Similarity Between Lampedusa and Yemen's Situations
Lampedusa and Yemen currently present deadly similarities, leading to quizzes about the scourge of unemployment and the shooting war. And major concerns are about fatalities, and the enormous filling of body bags, in both areas.
The war in Yemen, according to the CBS's 60 minutes news program, may have turned into the use of starvation as an instrument of war.
Unemployment is widespread in Africa and partly or almost responsible for the mass migration from the continent to the wealthy nations and mass death of illegal immigrants in Lampedusa waters.
The Magic Moment Of The Year is Here Again
An Immigrant on the fast lane
Some few years ago on my way home from Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn, I rode in a bus through Nostrand Avenue, and my wallet and $20.00 fell on the bus seat unknown to me. I got off the bus at a stop to walk to a barber shop to trim my hair. And to use the $20.00, the only cash on me, to pay for the hair cut.
I was unaware that my wallet and the $20.00 had parted way from me when I alighted from the bus. Later checked my pocket after I stepped into the barber shop to be sure I had the money to pay for the service. I could not find the money and the wallet. They were gone.

Who is Roy Moore? He is a politician from Alabama in the United States, and he is running for a senatorial seat in his state of Alabama, on the Republican Party's platform.
Before he began running for office, Moore had untainted credentials. But just as fame got larger, another credential was forced on him, that he sexually assaulted young girls in his thirties, about forty years ago!
Moore has rejected the new credential.

Iraq: War Ends, Then Earthquake
About 400 people may have died following an earthquake in a border area between Iraq and Iran on Sunday, rattling Iraque residents just about to start recovering from a long period of war .
The sudden earthquake, soon after news reports of an end of war, is making people to ask if indeed war has ended in iraq.
When news reports said last week that war had ended in Iraq, observers wondered whether the people of Iraq had actually seized to be a victim of circumstances beyond their control. The ink in the news reports about the end of war in Iraq had hardly dried, when another reports said another war may be brewing between Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Zimbabwe: How Are The Mighty Fallen?
Events in Zimbabwe between Robert Mugabe and his former deputy, Emmerson Mgangwagwa, and Grace Mugabe, is charactersitics of the life in the palace and state houses.
There, the worship of the power holder, betrayal, death of suspected traitors, self service and lack of respect for the truth by courtiers of power, reign.
All palaces and state houses have their supporters, who know the accepted language in the corridors of power against the truth.
These are the people that the Zimbabwe army officers have indirectly referenced as the criminals around Mugabe. And only few of the courtiers of power in the corridors of power are guiltless of the crime of worshipping the power holder.

America No Longer A Sexy Country?
The number of men who have been accused of sexual misconduct in the United States is on the increase and almost competing with the number of women who have accused men of misconduct.
The men made the Saturday cover stories for both the New York Daily News and the New York Post respectively.
Some of the men so accused of sexual predatory have come clean. Some of them have already submitted to rehabilitation. Some of them have accepted that they have been jerks, while some are still in denial. The New York Police Department said it is looking into possibility of dragging one of the men to court for breaking the law.
Suddenly, America seems to be undergoing a transformation from a sexy country to a new sense of renewal and almost like beating the pentecoastal churches in pentecostalism, some observers have funningly noted. But many observers say that this developement is like a passing phase and that it would not last, before some will retrun to their vomit.

Escalation of Sexual Misconduct Accusation
There is a song recorded in Nigeria by one of the most popular artists about love making, which if it has been produced in the United States, it may today fall under ban due to the sexual misconduct escalation that has taken over the USA's firmament.
In English interpretation, the song goes thus: "It is fire I have come to fetch, Akanbi. It is fire I have come to fetch Akanbi, you call me in and lock me indoor, take away my wrapper and push me on the bed and do that that a man does. If playing rough turns into pregnancy, the star owns the pregnancy."
Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey and his international brothers band, before turning into a full gospel band, recorded the song from the band's creative use of love and following trends in the society. The band leader and any of his members could not have meant to encourage rape or forcing a woman against her will.
But in today's USA, the music star may be accused of rape or encouraging rape. The public may also be asked to disown his other compositions as a punishment for his confession of rape or encouraging rape or forcing a woman against her will. In elementary Psychology, encouragement or reinforcement plays an important role in the formulation of what the public accepts as a norm and what is not.

America's is a land of the rule of law, which prompts investigations, whenever there is a suspicion of encroachment on the rules of engagement.
It is not a surprise that almost one year into President Donald Trump's presidency, there are still news reports in connection to suspicion and investigation about likely Russia's attempt to influence the presidential election - lost to Trump by Hillary Clinton.
Paul Manafort, one of the former managers of Trump's Campaign was reportedly charged for offenses related to money laundering along with one of his associates, Rick Gates, and not about the alleged Russian collusion to sway the election in favor of one candidate against another.

Kenya and Zimbabwe in Political Quandary
Raila Odinga, the Kenyan opposition party's presidential candidate has opted out of the new election scheduled for October 26, 2017.
The reason he gave for his decision is lack of assurance that the evil that bedevilled the August presidential election will not repeat itself.
Observers of political development in Kenya are not shocked by Odinga and his running mate's decision to drop out of an election they are unsure of its fairness, with all the characters that perpetuated the rigging of the August presidential election still in office at the country's electoral office.

There is something I know about some people, who don't like anyone getting into their business. When you ask questions or you become too inquisitive concerning them, they would ask you, why are you getting into their business.
It is how it should be. One's private matter is one's. Unless invited, others should not try to dabble into what are others private issues. But unlike me, not everyone has learnt to be themselves - not minding to get into other people's business uninvited.
I had learned to always be myself, ever before I found myself living in a gun society or advanced society, where everyone is free to own a gun. Being myself means not getting into other people's matters.

Dick Gregory Leaves The Scary Shadow Behind
August 21 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Humans want and need a perfect world. But what they have is something opposite of perfection. At the beginning, the creator gave a perfect place, a man and a woman in the garden. Then, something unexpected happened that changed the course of events.
Perfection gave way to imperfection, and things have never been the same. Abel was killed by Cain, his own brother, without any remorse.
Adam told his benefactor that the woman he gave to be with him made him to disobey his command meant to be obeyed!
When information about the death of Dick Gregory came in the news on Saturday, it was a quick reminder about his own efforts to correct the anomalies in the human society that is not perfect, which he believes ought to be better in term of organizations and attendance to human needs, without respect for persons or color, but service to humanity.

Protesters Force Buhari Back To Nigeria
August 20 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
President Muhammad Buhari of Nigeria returned to Nigeria on Saturday, following protesters's appearance at Abuja House in London.
For a whole week, Buhari's photographs and his aides appeared in newspapers around the world, with information about his health in London, showing he was hale and hearty.
Buhari had told some of his visitors that his health had improved, but he still waited for doctors' approval to return to Nigeria. It is unclear if he has got the doctors' nod, prompting his return on home Saturday. No statement has been made about that.
However, observers are saying protesters' appearance at Abuja House in London, asking the president to return home or resign, after a week of protests in Abuja, Nigeria, may have prompted the president's sudden return home.

Buhari had told some of his visitors that his health had improved, but he still waited for doctors' approval to return to Nigeria. It is unclear if he has got the doctors' nod, prompting his return on home Saturday. No statement has been made about that.

Was Kenya's Election Hacked?
August 14 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
"We have caught them. Hackers gained entry into the election database through Mr Msando's account ...," Mr Odinga told a press conference on Wednesday, the Daily Nation reported. However, the report said that the IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati said the hackers attempt was unsuccessful.
Raila Odinga's assertion that hackers gained entry into Mr. Msando's account will renew discussions on the role that the murder of the electoral manager may have played in the elections.
First, it is notable to hear that the reason Mr. Msando was murdered was to enable yet unknown people access the Kenya's electoral website with his account. Chebukati's refutal that effort to hack the account was botched failed the trust test.

Where Are The Better Days?
August 12 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Jesus Christ arose in Israel and healed the sick and fed the poor. And that was several years after children of Abraham's crossing into Canaan.
Yes, there was poverty in Canaan too! The Roman emperor saddled with governance over Canaan and his subordinates lacked the knowledge to address the poverty in the land.
When the Roman emperor and his subordinates heard someone said he came to heal and provided for the poor, and said he was a son of God, they went after him and killed him. After the days of the Roman emperors, the world has witnessed Renaissance, which has foisted another set of special breed of human beings on the society.

8th Vote of No Confidence on Zuma on 8th August
....And The Noose Tightens
August 7 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
A defiance came from a female member of the ANC in the parliament on Monday, against her party's direction about how party members in the parliament should vote in the vote of no confidence, expected on President Jacob Zuma, on Tuesday.
"It is a vote to protect the social security net that is critical to so many of our citizens, and it is a vote in defence of our democracy. Corruption widens the racial and economic divides in this country, and the actions of a few have stolen South Africa's freedom with corruption and greed.
Our people will not progress if ethics, hard work, talent and diligence are doomed to play second fiddle to cronyism. Today I call on all MPs to vote with their conscience. The road will not be easy, but we will walk it together. We must do the right thing and the right thing is to support tomorrow’s vote of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma," Makhosi Khoza said, according to News24.

Zukerberg For President?
August 5 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Is Mark Zukerberg of Facebook running for political office? When the question first emerged in the media, Zukerberg said he was not running for office. The question emerged again few days ago.
Latest reports say that Zukerberg has hired certain political eggheads, known to have worked for the likes of men and women, who have pursued political office.
There is nothing wrong for Zukerberg to run for political office, provided he has the thick skin to absorb the near madness of modern approach to political opposition and the selfishness that has taken over the political terrain.
Is the selfiness currently enveloping the political terrain a new phenomenon or has it been been part of the system before now?
Whatever the time that it is that crass greediness become part of politics, we will know as we proceed in this discussion.

Pariah Jong Un Seeks Prayers For America
August 3 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Ask anyone about who needs prayers or the countries that require prayers.
The answer one will likely get is that all humans and all countries need prayers.
But when aware that one particular leader is seeking prayers for another country, you will think such a leader is exhibiting an act of love.
The next question will be how can a leader, Kim Jong Un, who is seeking to destroy another country seeks prayers for the country he wishes to destroy? Isn't Jong Un one who requires prayers for God to take him out of the path of evil and his country from the path of destruction?

Nigeria: Where Is The President? Where Is The Country?
August 1, 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The question about the whereabouts of the Nigerian President Muhammad Buhari is no longer new. The question has been asked time and time again, and the president's media handlers have said that the president is sick and he is undergoing medical check up in London.
But the question has been recurring instead of going away, because President Buhari seems to have gone into the oblivion and seems to be nowhere close to his country.
The entire episode about President Buhari illness and hospitalization in London has turned into a drama, and one that has become money spinning, at a time that the country's income has nosedived.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions on Fire
July 25 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Would Jeff Sessions survive as attorney general in Donald Trump administration? Many people say it is a difficult question, and one which only President Trump can answer. And the president, whose views about Sessions have suddenly turned cold said that time will tell.
President Trump is angry for Sessions recusal of himself from the justice department investigations into the alleged Russian collusion in the election to favor Trump.
The reason for Sessions recusal was based on pressure from the liberals said Democrats, because of his own alleged meeting with the Russians, which he said had nothing to do with the election. But he recused himself anyway and allowed the liberals and Democrats their ways. And probably believed he did was was the best in that circumstance for the administration.

Jared Kushner left the senate intelligence hearing this morning and headed back to the White house. While still on his way, the Fox News kept its viewers posted about Kushner's journey to the White House, expecting him to talk to the media, about his encounter with the senators.
Just about seven months or so ago, Kushner was relatively unknown, other than he was son-in-law to Donald Trump, the president elect.
But as soon as President Trump was sworn into office, the star of Kushner began to rise as a close confidant of the president as one of the people who had worked on his campaign.

Sambisa Forest In the News Again
July 23 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Sambisa Forest first came into the news with the evil Boko Haram of Nigeria's escapades. The forest was home to the terror group and the place they took their captives. The forest became more popular with the kidnap of the Chibok school girls, who forcibly became guests to the terrorists.
The fight over the control of Sambisa Forest took a long time between the Nigerian forces and the terrorists. At a time, many observers said that Nigeria would need to take total control of the forest to nip the terrorists operations in the bud.

Jesus Christ: When The World Hates You
July 20 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first" - John 15:18. The scripture teaches Christian religion adherents.
It is from the lesson that the difference between the world and followers of Jesus Christ first emanated as mentioned by Christ in his statement.
People in the world were those who disbelieved Christ teachings, and people outside the world were those who believed Christ's teachings.
The scripture said further that "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own, but because ye are not the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you, if they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you."

What Does Rand Paul Want From Wholesale Repeal of Obamacare?
July 13 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has never hidden his disdain or dislike for the Affordable Care Act, (ACC), otherwise called Obamacare.
He wants the ACC to be completely scrapped and be replaced with something else. Something new without any infusion from Obamacare.
Observers, who have been following the argument over the healthcare for the last seven months, know what Paul wants from the beginning about seven months ago, that he wants Obamacare killed for a new healthcare program for Americans.
Senator Paul has not changed his position on the issue. The problem appears to be his rigidness. He is saying that he does not want infusion of any provision from the Obamacare retained in any new healthcare program being considered by his colleagues in the Republican Party.

July 10 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Miosotis Familia, New York State Police Officer, killed by a gun man in her car in the Bronx, will be buried today..News reports said that Familia sat in her car, kept watch in the area, when the gun man came and shot her on the head.
Officer Familia had been descried as a warrior. "Make no mistake: Officer Familia was murdered for her uniform and for the responsibility she embraced," New York Police Commissioner, O'Neill said in a message to his department, according to New York Times.
O'Neill is reported to have said that it means absolutely nothing, if the police regularly achieve lower and lower figures, and one of their own is brutally shot and killed.
O'Neil was silent on the fact that the assailant in FamilIia's murder story succeeded in killing Familia, because the officer was in a non-bulletproof car, and that if Familia had been in a bulletproof car, her life could have been saved.

Journalism: Truth, Fake and Ethics
July 8 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Every society has its culture. And so is journalism as a profession. The culture of journalism is strengthened by its ethics. When the ethics of the profession is not strictly obeyed by practitioners, outsiders see the opportunity as an open door to malign the integrity of the profession.
Respect for the truth is the first ordinance in the journalism ethics. It is the ground that journalists are expected to stand continuously for eternal respect from the society. When the truth is compromised, the journalism is bound to run into trouble.
Fake news has no room in journalism or it ought not to exist at all in journalism, just as rumor is not supposed to have a place in reporting the news or in published stories. But the power to ensure veracity of information to ensure the truth all the time has been eroded by media proprietorship.

Make Past Leaders Return Nigeria's Money

When most of the members of the committee sat down and recommended restructuring of the country to former President Goodluck Jonathan, they may have done so to dodge the most important issue about recovering Nigeria's money in private hands.
Many Nigerians still don't understand what these guys calling for restructuring want restructured. Yet, the people against the call for restructuring are not talking about the required solution to the country's problems without restructuring.

Nigerian President On Life Support? July 1 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
President Muhammad Buhari is somewhere in Britain receiving medical attention. But no Nigerian knows the name of the hospital, where the president has been receiving medical attention, and actual condition of the president.
Is the president dead or alive, or is he on life support? And is there any hope of him returning to help the country towards finding lasting solution to its myriad problems?
The media reported more than 50 days ago, that the president had traveled to follow up on his medical treatment, having been away earlier for a long time, for the same reason.
Just few days ago, Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State said that President Buhari has been on life support since June 6, at an undisclosed West End hospital in London, and that the last time the president's wife, Aisha Buhari, traveled to London to see her husband, she was not allowed to see him. And that only three of the president's men are allowed to see him. He challenged the ruling party to admit or deny his assertion.

There is no escaping from birth to be here. And after birth, human interaction begins, first in the immediate family and goes all the way till when we leave to the other side of the world, with the marriage experience before death.
Birth, marriage and death are tied together in philosophical discussions as three important milestones in human life that are celebrated. As harrowing as death has become for taking lives of young people, it is still celebrated when death interaction involves people who are advanced in age.

Say "No" To Drug Abuse

Isn't it part of the problem to wait until International day for drug abuse prevention day to make a promise, rather than be seen as having taken desirable steps to curb drug abuse menace?
Aside from its promise to step up drug abuse prevention service marking the International Drug Prevention day, the Nyanmar authorities burnt 25 different types of seized narcotic drugs. Also in Cambodia, about 126 kilograms of drugs were set ablaze to mark the drug prevention day, according to news reports by XinhuaNet.

June 26 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
With the collapse of a bridge on Monday, two weeks after commissioning, one of the reasons that Kenyatta sets to use for his reelection has turned into a setback.
Consequently, the opposition led by Raila Odinga, has attributed the bridge collapse to shoddy work to rush the bridge work to Kenyatta's advantage.
Kenyans in the areas affected by the absence of the bridge, are known to lose lives crossing the water.
Ironically, Kenyatta's government has no answer to the bridge collapse than to stop further work on the bridge, while investigating the cause of the collapse.

Pray - It Isn't You In The United Airline Imbroglio!
April 11 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
You see that a man is being dragged on the floor through the aisle of an aircraft on Tuesday in the news. An occurrence on Sunday at Chicago O'Hare Airport. You think the man on the floor must have been a security threat, but later information reveals otherwise, and that the man has been unfortunately asked to give up his seat for the airline's staff.
As you listen to the news on television, the man's picture appears. He is resting on something halfway on his feet, but with blood flowing from his mouth and nose. Yes, blood!
What has he done or what is his crime? Next, a statement comes across your mind asking are we really civilized, treating a man like a criminal, for mere refusal to give up his seat, which he has paid for on an aircraft?

Gaining The World, But Losing Their Souls!
April 9 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
On Palm Sunday, Christians all over the world remembered the entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem against entreaties for him not to do so for the safety of his own life. But Christ had an important message he needed to deliver in Jerusalem.
And if losing his life will be the consequence of his daring, he was careless. Because he was a King, who was more than the worldly kings, who were gaining the world, but were losing their souls!
It is the one message that summed up Christ's message to the world about the love of material wealth than doing things that will ensure peace of mind here and after death.
What do you think Christ will teach Bashir Assad, if he is to be here now and Assad is clinging to power in a country, where destruction has become a way of life and the sky is almost falling over him? One question needing asking is whether Assad still sleeps.

Defending The Defenseless In Syria
April 8 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The world was caught by surprise on Thursday with the news of the United States' strike in Syria, response to chemical weapons attack on defenseless Syrians.
There have been reactions to the U.S. missiles attack on Shayrat Airfield all around the world, including Syria.
There seems to be justification for the strike, because it is seen by majority of people as an act in the defence of the defenseless Syrians.
While some criticisms of the act as a contrast to Trump's administration policy at home, among others, cannot be discountenanced.
The moment after the strike also represents a turning around for the President Donald Trump's administration. President Trump's decision shows that he is humane and that he is ready to defend the defenseless around the world, where ever and anytime they are threatened with chemical weapons.

Rice and Nunes in Hot Water?

Susan Rice, the national security adviser in President Barack Obama's administration may have more explanation to do concerning her statements about whether there was surveillance of Donald Trump's campaign or not. She had said that there was no surveillance of any type, before she said that she asked for unmasking of names after a surveillance and names unmasked belonged to Trump's campaign.

As American and Chinese Leaders Meet
April 6 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
President Donald Trump and his Chinese counterpart, President Xi Jinping of China are meeting on Thursday in Maralago, Florida, to discuss bilateral issues.
It is not whether the two leaders are meeting far away from Washington or why they are meeting in Mar-a-lago, but several issues that both leaders are expected to talk about, with each leader out to protect the interest of their respective country.
Many Americans, as well as Chinese people in America and back home, are expecting to hear the ways that the two leaders will affect domestic and international issues. One of such areas is trade, which the American leader has said is greatly in favor of China against America.

Democrats' Vengeance and Republicans' Armor
April 3 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The New York Times' reports on Monday that the Democrats have enough votes to filibuster on Gorsuch, meaning the party plans to obstruct the Republic Part'y's plan to confirm Neil Gorsuch, President Donald Trump's pick for the Supreme Court.
Another news report by the BBC says that the Democrats are set to delay Gorsuch confirmation for the Supreme Court!
Gorsuch has been in the news for sometime now, meeting with members of the Congress from both the Republican Party and the Democratic Party, and followed with a public hearing. Gorsuch was scrutinized by the Congress men and women, with the public as observers. He went through the hearing in the Congress and came out a shining armor ready for public office.
No one has said anything negative to show that Gorsuch is not fit for the office he has been nominate for.

Zuma's Reform For Self
April 1 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
A Western Cape High Court in South Africa has dismissed a suit filed by the Democratic Alliance, seeking to halt President Jacob Zuma's cabinet reshuffle. The court ruled on Saturday that the DA had failed to prove it had power to intervene in the president's prerogative to select his own cabinet, according to a news report by News24.
Simultaneously, President Zuma has swiftly sworn in a new cabinet. The drama follows Zuma's reshuffle of his cabinet on Wednesday, including the removal of the revered finance minister, Pravin Gordhan, against public opinion and the advise of Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and followed by public disaffection.
"Zuma must fail," has thus become a common refrain among South Africans, who are voicing their opposition to the sudden removal of a finance minister, whom they trust and many people are calling for his reinstatement. But Zuma was done with that and he moved on, disrespecting the people's wish. But observers say that Zuma has merely confirmed what South Africans have been saying about his corrupt tendencies and his grand scheme to achieve his corrupt objectives.

Has Your Father Two Wives? Be Ready For Life's Dirty Battles!
March 28 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Polygamy is illegal in many advanced countries, unlike under developed countries, where polygamy still holds sway. In many homes, the repercussion of polygamous life is often manifest in the battle between women married to the same man. The battle often extends to the children, who are victims of the women's reactions to their situation.
But investigation shows that the trouble in polygamy often follows children from polygamous homes the rest of their lives, and children who are victims often find it difficult to untangle themselves from the effect, which they are ignorant polygamous is the cause.

What has Trump To Do With Grabher?
March 272017 By Abiodun Giwa
A man named Grabher has been denied renewal of his car plate name in Canada. and instead of confronting the Canadian government for denial of his rights, he is saying that he believes that President Donald Trump in the United States is the cause of his denial in Canada!
According to the news report by the BBC, the plate name for his car, which he had used for many years was turned down by authorities in Nova Scotia in Canada, when he went for renewal.
In truth, the name 'Grabher' will almost be read as 'Grabber', but for the different in spelling and pronunciation. But whether grabher or grabber, if it is your name, no authority anywhere has the right to turn it down as your name.

Health Care Debacle and Americans' Well Being
March 27 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
"Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Confucius.
One major lesson that has been learned from the result of the aborted health care legislation is that members of the minority political group and the Liberal media have characterised the outcome as a defeat for President Donald Trump and Speaker Paul Ryan.
There are some among the commentators, who have said that it may mean the end of Trump's presidency, and that Trump may be consumed by the civil war within the Republican Party.
They have erroneously termed the dissent in the Republican Party to civil war! A statement that has made observers to ask whether America is no longer a democracy, and whether the liberal media no longer cherishes dissent, as part of the country's democratic culture.

South Africa: Blessers and 3000 Pregnancy Awards!
March 25 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
3000 young girls in Ratlou Municipality of South Africa, forced into relationships with Sugar Daddies - otherwise known as Blessers, have reportedly been impregnated. Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane, in a call for the Social Development Department's intervention, said the girls offer sexual favors to survive biting poverty, according a news report by the SABC.
However, there is no way of knowing the time period, whether it is one year or two or three or five years, when the girls have become pregnant. But the cause, according to a spokesperson for the youths, Kagiso Gaonamong, confirming the Public Prosecutor's claim, is due to lack of recreation facilities, leading to crime and sex, among youths.

Theresa May's Defiance Against Terror
March 23 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
"Tomorrow morning, Parliament will meet as normal. We will come together as normal. And Londoners - and others from around the world who have come here to visit this great City - will get up and go about their day as normal."
Prime Minister Theresa May said on Wednesday evening in a broadcast to Britons, following the terror attack in London. The terror attack claimed three lives, including a police officer. The attacker, whose only brandished weapon was an eight inches knife, apart from the car, which he rammed into unsuspecting public, was killed.
May's statement brimmed with defiance, despite the loss of lives and that the prime minister herself was reportedly whisked away to safety from the Parliament building. She hailed the innocent civilians killed in the attack and the police officer, and other others who sustained injury.
But the question still remains about how relatives of those killed in the attack would fill the void created by the sudden death of their loved ones. For how long will the society continued to accommodate deadly attacks on innocent people by marauders using anything as weapons?

Remember Louis XVI and Contravention of The Nature of Government (2)
March 20 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
There are three major leadership responsibilities, which outline the nature of government. These responsibilities are management of resources, unfailing provisions for the people's needs and protection of the people from external aggression.
The emergence of Joseph the dream interpreter in Egypt, and Pharaoh's decision to bequeath the management of resources in Joseph's hands, because of Joseph's demonstration of knowledge, based on his interpretation of Joseph's dream, underlines the importance of resources' management by government.
Pharaoh's acceptance of Joseph's interpretation of his dream, making Joseph second in command - in charge of management - to ensure that the people got what they needed before and during the famine, underscores the importance of ensuring provisions for the people's needs, and Pharaoh's concern for the care of his people, as a leader.

Seemingly Like An Adventure From Another Planet
March 14 23017 By Abiodun Giwa
No one will believe how Tuesday's massive snowfall has transformed the North East of the United States, confirming life as an adventure, where nothing is permanent, including human conditions.
The roads are deserted and it does not look like an area inhabited by humans, save that many of the structures are still recognizable. Everywhere is white in a blanket of avalanche of snowfall.
Some areas have as much as two feet of snow accumulation, while some areas that have been expected to have as much, have between four and eight inches, far below the prediction of between 12 and 18 inches.
Governor Andrew Cuomo of New York State said in a statement monitored on a radio that no one has any reason to be out on the street. He said the airports are closed, schools are closed and no one is at work. The governor's statement cannot be far from the truth, if it is not completely the truth.

When The Weather Turns Into A Killer
March 13 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The talk about the snow blizzard and its inconveniences are all the over city. The announcement is on the airwaves and the newspapers. Adults are talking about it. School children seem to like it. They are saying the schools will close, and and see it as an opportunity for relaxation. They are almost turning it into a song, song about a snow blizzard and the love of seeing the school gates shut.
The snow blizzard, if it comes the ways it has been forecasted, will make the streets messy on Tuesday morning, in the North East of the United States. It will be rough and possibly see people stranded at work in the morning hours and those at home stall indoor and may be unable to go to work.
The blizzard has not come, but people are already talking about its likely effects. "The weather will be colder toward tonight, going into Tuesday," one construction worker, who had told this reporter few days ago that the weather was turning unbearably cold, said.

Buhari Returns to Nigeria After Medical Vacation Abroad
March 11 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
President Muhammad Buhari of Nigeria returned to the country on Friday, after 49 days abroad for medical vacation. However, Buhari may be returning in few weeks for further check up, because results from his medical examinations and follow ups were inconclusive, according to a statement he made to his cabinet on arrival.
A statement released by Femi Adesina, the president's media assistant, said that a letter will be forwarded to the National Assembly on Monday, informing it of the president's arrival and readiness to get back to work.
Many Nigerians are happy to see their president return home, after what people consider a long stay abroad. It is the reason observers say it is not surprising there are reports about wellwishers slaughtering rams to welcome the president. The Punch newspapers' report have photographs of a large number of Nigerians, who fill a street in celebration of their leaders' arrival home and others slaughtering rams.

Health Care Debate: Rand Paul vs. Paul Ryan?
March 9 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Rand Paul does not think the legislation for the new American Health Care Program will pass through in the Congress. But Paul Ryan, the House Speaker thinks otherwise. Rand Paul calls the new American Health program Obama Care-Lite, because according to him, the program still have vestiges of Affordable Care.
But news reports said that President Donald trump is very happy over the availability of a legislation to repeal and replace Obama Care, in support of the House speaker. Against Rand Paul and others like him in the Congress, who think that the new American Health Care program legislation still needs to be perfected.

Obama's Affordable Care On The Way Out
March 7 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The Affordable Care Act, President Barack Obama signature health care program may be on its way out. But it is not quite certain yet.
Some news reports said on Tuesday, that The Republican Party has fashioned a replacement for it.
Have they or are they still in the process of agreeing on what is touted as a replacement?
The question arises, because the news report says further that there is a disagreement of some sort among the Republican Party members in the Congress, over the content of the legislation, which is said to have the approval of Speaker Paul Ryan

Christians, Governments and The Law
March 7 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The new travel ban that has just been rolled out of the mill by President Donald Trump, despite the trouble his administration has experienced from the the first travel ban, is a reminder of a sermon in the Church on Sunday, about Christians and the law.
The pastor stated clearly that "Christian and the law" or The Law and the Christians," is the title of his sermon, and that he derives the title and the discussion from the day's worship Bible reading - 1st Timothy 1:17.
First, he said that the law is good, if it is not aimed at oppressing others or making life miserable for the people. He made a reference to the Ten Commandments and asked the congregants to read from 1st Timothy 1:9, which says,"The Law is good if a man use it lawfully."
The Pastor talked about people in authority or rulers and their subjects. He said that the law is good, if it is not meant to oppress or torment the righteous. In this case, the righteous are the law abiding people and every Christian is supposed to belong here. He said that the law must be used carefully and not be misused or abused.

Iraq's Mosul on Fire Against Undying Evil
March 6 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Some children have reportedly been treated in Mosul, Iraq, for effect of chemical weapons. Meaning that the ISIS occupiers of Mosul may have possessed chemical weapons. This bring to the fore, watching over the weekend, how fire from guns on an armored car, fly over a long distance to its target in the embattled city.
Although, about 45,000 residents have reportedly been evacuated from the city before the beginning of the battle, but one can still imagine, what would become people, who may have been unfortunately caught between the deadly fire power of the combatants.
ISIS wants to remain in the city. The Iraques want them flushed out. The Iraques have the support of the international community, to whom the ISIS is a pariah. Iraques have been witnessing evil and no one is sure about the time that evil will cease the country.

Human and Not Funny At All
March 4 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Last week, newspaper reports showcased the case of Sara Beltran Hernandez, a female undocumented immigrant, who traveled from El-Salvador and was arrested in Texas. She has reportedly developed brain tumor and in hospital, from where the law enforcement has withdrawn her, according to her relatives.
And the law enforcement has said that the 26-year-old undocumented mother of two was stable and voluntarily discharged by her doctor to The Prairieland Detention Center pending a Monday appointment with a specialist, according to a Daily News report on the matter.
Hernandez has told her relatives that a doctor has told her that she has brain tumor. There is nothing concrete to show that her lawyers and relatives have petitioned the government for her release on humanitarian ground with medical reports that she has brain tumor. Instead, news reports about her case has been mixed up with recent political agitation for an open border.
Many people considered Hernandez case as human and not legalistic at all and nor is it funny. But on the other hand, it is seen as funny that a woman embarks on a journey from her home country to another country, running from an abusive husband. They asked questions about why she did not contact the law enforcement in El-Salvador, before her journey to the U.S. as an undocumented immigrant or get hold of legal traveling papers before embarking on her journey.

Trump's Repudiation of Obama's Eight Years
March 2 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
President Donald Trump's speech to Congress on Tuesday was a reminder of the moment he said he would fulfill his campaign promise to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.
It seems like an act that has poisoned a relationship, a relationship already in trouble over election loss.
It was like the continuation of the election campaign, with President Barack Obama and Democrats against repealing the health care program, Obama's signature program, while the new administration and the Republicans vow the repeal of the health care.
The relationship between the Democrats and the Republicans has been staled since then. It is not getting better and it may not get better, as events at the Congress on Tuesday has shown, with Democrats in the Congress saying they don't see any substance in the president's speech and the Republicans hailing the speech.

Our President's Health and Versions of Democracy
February 27 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Can an American president, irrespective of who he or she may be and regardless of his or her party affiliation, go on medical vacation and Americans unaware of his or her real medical concerns?
Many people say that this is impossible in America, especially for the president to be absent for a long period and be asking the Congress to allow him indefinite stay, based on his own words without any substantial testimony from doctors.
In Nigeria, the president has been away from the country for over one month on medical vacation, and he has written more than once asking the country's National Assembly, asking for indefinite absence to address issues raised by doctors on his state of health. First, he was scheduled to return to Nigeria on February 6, but wrote to the National Assembly for an extension of time to be away for enough rest.

Hunger and Starvation in Africa
February 21 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Three countries in Africa feature in a news report on Monday, as where hunger and starvation, are having foothold around the world.
The cause of the hunger and starvation in these countries is traceable to conflict, according to the United Nations.
There is a war in Sudan. There is a war in Somalia. There is a war in Nigeria. Yemen is the only country outside Africa, in the list of four countries affected by looming famine, and where conflict has entered the deadly stage.
Accidentally, all these countries, where there are wars and are Islamic terrorism related, are in big trouble. How Syria, Iraq and Libya are not included in the report, is incomprehensible, because those countries have also been caught in deadly conflict.

The Power Juice and The Deadly Struggle
February 16 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Why are people dying to be in control of affairs? People say to be in control gives influence and that influence is power, especially political power. And that people will do anything to hold or maintain power.
However, when power slips, the struggle about who has the power, puts the welfare of the people in the secondary position or in abeyance, when contenders for power, face each other in deadly struggle.
Two incidences in the last few days illustrates this assertion: The killing of North Korean leaders' elder brother and the resignation of General Michael Flynn - National Security Adviser in President Donald Trump's administration in the United States.
So much have been said about how Kim Jong Nam abandoned North Korea, following his father's death and his loss of power to his younger brother, Kim Jong Un, who has not stopped from eliminating anyone, including family members, whom he suspects of capability of dethroning him.

The American Political Dilemma (3)
February 14 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Politicians in both the Democratic Party and the Republican Party had ousted themselves from consideration for the president's office, before the election campaign began.
People were fed up with career politicians and Washington for their lack of performance or carelessness about the people's welfare.. The line up of presidential candidates showed only two people were non-career politicians. The two non-career politicians were Donald Trump and Dr. Ben Carson. . Everyone knew Trump as the wealthy real estate guy from New York City, who was a donor to virtually all politicians who sought political office, but was seeking political office himself, for the first time. While on the Democratic Party's platform, there were three candidates. Martin O'Malley dropped out early, leaving Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders, to slug it out. |
Well, Trump emerged the winner and he was sworn into office. He is the country's president but untutored about politics and ways in Washington. He will have to learn the ropes. He has to. It will not be easy. And since he is not a career politician, the fact that his acts as a president are not tailored to that of career politicians are first acts of change that Americans have witnessed. It is the dilemma that Americans face today - dealing with a non-career politician in the White House. Americans must come to grasp with this reality and that he will need sometime to master the craft.

The Nigerian Economic Case in Ethics
February 13 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Nigeria's President Muhammed Buhari is yet to return to Nigeria, against expectations that he could arrive last Saturday. There had been protests by Nigerians, who said they were dissatisfied with his government's economic agenda and that they were in hunger.
Vice President Yemi Osibajo, the acting president, had told protesters that the hard time is part of the price, which Nigerians would have to pay to arrive safely at the promised land.

Visas, Bonds, Wars, Religions and Radicalism

Ask anyone whether he or she has bonds, the response may result in an attempt to evade the question or to outrightly say and pray that bonds are not his or her portion, because some of us have mistaken bonds for bondage.
According to the dictionary definition, bond is an agreement with legal force or something used to fasten things together. The first definition serves the purpose. In cultural terms, we all have bonds, unless we don't belong to any human society, under rules and regulations, written or unwritten.

Breaking the Deadlock and Getting Things in Motion
February 7 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The Democratic Party senators and two Republican Party senators, were unwilling to confirm Betsy DeVos as President Donald Trump's pick for education secretary.
Therefore, the administration was stuck on two fronts early on Tuesday: First is over the court's bar on temporary travel ban and getting things in motion for the confirmation of some nominees for various ministries.
But on Tuesday, the deadlock of 50-50 over the confirmation hearing for DeVos, which would have prevented her from getting confirmation, was resolved by Vice President Mike Pence's vote, and that gave her a sail through the Democratic Party's wall, with 51-50 votes.

Patriots' Sweet Victory
February 6 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
People are talking about New England's Patriots' comeback from the brink and victory and the victory over the Atlanta Falcons, 34-28, on Sunday at Houston's NRG Stadium.
Of course, people cannot talk about the Patriots' victory without mentioning Tom Brady, the team's quarterback, whom they say, rallied his team to a stunning result, after the world saw them down on the field of play and thought they were out!
Falcons reportedly led with about 25 points early in the game, before the Patriots began to score, caught up with the Falcons, forced the game into overtime - the first in the series of the Super Bowl, since inception, and ended the game with two super touchdowns.

Supreme Court: Garland's Denial Haunt's Trump's Pick
February 1 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The denial of Merrick Garland by the Republican law maker for the Supreme Court is haunting Neil Gorsuch, President Donald Trump's pick for the same court.
Obviously, the Democrats have chosen to play 'eye for an eye' politics, because the Republican law makers refused to consider Garland for hearing late last year.
Additionally, the ban on refugees and the eventual sacking of Sally Yates, the acting attorney general, by President Trump, seem to have worsen the relationship between the Democratic Party law makers and the president.
The Democratic Party law makers have vowed to form a block of defiance to everything Trump. Both Garland Yates were former President Barack Obama's nominees.

Weekend Trump Shakes World and Protesters' Show of Defiance
January 30 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The dust has not fully settled from the weekend scene of confusion and chaos at the airports around the country. Though, news reports said on Monday morning, that all the travelers from countries affected by the new executive order on immigration had been processed overnight, and that only two fellows were deported.
No one will say that he or she did not feel the pangs from news reports about protests and demonstrations at the airports, arguments and counter arguments by opponents of the new immigration ban and government representatives.
It is one weekend that only man, the president of the United States, with a stroke of the pen, causes what has become known as weekend that Trump shakes the world, with travelers from affected countries stranded and disallowed entry into the United States on arrival, notwithstanding whether they are documented or undocumented.
Americans woke from sleep on sunday and learnt that travelers from seven Muslim nations had been disallowed entry into the country, based on provisions of a new executive order on immigration. The news reports were not just about the stranded passengers, it also showed the protester and demonstrators, who had occupied every space at various airports around the country, shouting singing, and describing the new immigration order as unconstitutional and UnAmerican.

One Arrest, Not Two, Made in Terror Attack on Muslims in Canada
Why Was Senator Schumer Tearful?
January 30 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Senator Charles Schumer was tearful on Sunday, during his condemnation of the President Donald Trump's temporary ban on migration from seven Muslim states and stranded migrants at various airports in the United States.
"Why tears," many observers have asked. "Have people been killed or mortally wounded?" Has there been a terrorist attack and loss of lives?" Additional questions followed as protests and demonstrations continued at various airports in the country.
As questions are asked and clarifications emerge from the government, it becomes clearer that government is determined and has resolved that there is no scaling back on what the government has described as a temporary ban to be reviewed after expiration.
Protesters describe government action as targeted against Muslims, government says that the ban is not targeted against Muslims, but to keep the country safe from terrorists. Protesters say that the ban is unconstitutional and government says there is nothing unconstitutional in working to keep the country safe and that the country has every right to decide who to admit and deny entry.

U.S. Immigration Order: Green Card Holders From Affected Countries Free To Travel
Has Court Suspended Any Provision in Trump's New Immigration Order? January 29 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
The first question many people ask on Sunday, following a court ruling, which allows people from countries affected by the new immigration order into the United States, is whether deportation clause in the new immigration order has been suspended by court, as reported by some newspapers?
Secondly, people have reasons to ask whether the new immigration order seeks deportation of migrants with valid papers from affected countries?
It is clear that with the new immigration order, American embassies and consulates in affected countries, will stop issuing visas or processing of refugees and asylees, and there may not be migrants coming to the U.S. from that part of the world, until after the expiration of the new order.

When children of Israel were escaping from their Egyptian task masters, the Bible revealed that the waters of the Red Sea formed a wall, to allow Israelis cross to safety.
The wall of water collapsed and drowned the Egyptian warriors, who were pursuing the Israelis to keep them from escaping from slavery. Similar incident was reported, when they crossed the Jordan River - the water formed a wall for them to cross.
These days, so much is being talked about the Berlin Wall and its eventual historical collapse. "The Berlin Wall. Gambia Still in Our Minds
January 24 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
There has been no news that President Adama Barrow of Gambia has returned to Gambia from Senegal, where he has been holed before his inauguration in Gambia's embassy there.
No news either about the time he is likely to return to Gambia. However, the world has been shown soldiers' photographs, while they jubilate following their entry into the presidential palace, after Yahya Jammeh's unceremonious departure.
The immediate question prompted by the photographs of soldiers in the Gambia's presidential palace was why were they jubilating? Was there any encounter or resistance at their entry into Gambia from Senegal? Wasn't Jammeh's departure more of a diplomatic victory than warfare?
The news said that the soldiers entered Gambia from Senegal and that they did not shoot a single bullet, because they were restrained by instructions from powers above to allow peaceful negotiation between Jammeh and African leaders, who were busy in efforts to get him to leave.

Americans' Great Expectations
January 24 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Americans want good governance with credibility. It is why the media is there to hold the leaders accountable. It is why, people say, the three arms of government, are independent of one another, to ensure checks and balances between them.
But it seems along the way, something went wrong, and created a renewal for Americans to expect greater performances from their leaders, after every change of the baton, between a newly elected president and an outgoing president.
During the last electioneering campaign between Donald Trump as the candidate for the Republican Party and Hillary Clinton as the candidate for the Democratic Party, Americans heard about the need to make America great again and a counter argument that America was already great, and that all that was necessary was ensuring the continuity of America's greatness.

Nature's Deadliness and Humans' Helplessness

"It is cold," many people often say, while wading through the discomfort of winter cold.
People say that almost everyone have fallen into the attitude without knowing it, and that It is the product of weather, which humans have no control, upholding the awesomeness and formidability of the unseen creator of nature. People have acknowledged that this creator makes it cold, warm and hot, and that situations are in whichever way He wants them, and humans have no option, than manage whatever they have, since they have no power over the seasons. Numbers, Populism and Inauguration
January 22 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Numbers and understanding their relevance is important to human life, since without it there will be no way of knowing anything about our worthiness, gains and losses. Some of us are good in counting numbers and some of us are poor in it.
Since the last election in the United States, during which the issue of wrong polling matter arose and no one saw Donald John Trump looming larger than his opponent in the battleground states, the issue of correct counting and wrong counting has dogged our paths, questioning our mastery of numbers

Did Jammeh Fled or Departed Voluntarily?
January 22 2107 By Abiodun Giwa
The news of of Yahya Jammeh's departure from Gambia on Saturday hit the news wave late on Saturday.
He was accompanied to the airport by few loyalists, who were seen waving hands and bid him bye and safe journey. He held out a copy of the Quran toward them as he looked back before entering the aircraft.
Jammeh's departure from the country he had ruled for 22 years followed a diplomatic agreement brokered by leaders, who spent days working to ensure that the West African country was not thrown into a state of warfare.
Following Jammeh's agreement to leave the country, because according to him, it is not worthy the shedding of blood of anyone to resolve the issue that has made him to refuse to relinquish power.

Nigeria's Buhari Health Concerns
January 22 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
There is a debate among Nigerians over whether President Muhammad Buhari is ill or well. News reports by The Sun newspapers said on Sunday that President Muhammad is well and alive.
The discussion about Muhammad's health concerns began on Friday, following Buhari's departure from Nigeria on Thursday, and Vice President Yemi Osibajo's rushed home journey on Friday from Switzerland, to assume presidential powers, in the president's absence.
The sudden news of the president's seeming impromptu travel on Thursday and the vice president's abandonment of the economic forum in Davos, where he has led the Nigerian delegation, have raised eyebrows and concerns about the president's health.

Issues From The Women's March

Madonna's Outburst about an intent to blow up the White House is the major issue from the women's march of Saturday in Washington.
The women were protesting against President John Trump's political ascent.
In her speech, Madonna reportedly said that she had thought a lot about about blowing up the White House, but knew it would not change anything.
It meant she had intent upon which she had devoted lots of thoughts, but became remorseful about committing the evil, because she knew it would not change anything.
Madonna's expression of intent to blow up the White House, though she later changed her mind, but has attracted concerns in legal circles, concerning reports that her statement has drawn the attention of the United States' Secret Service and unconfirmed reports that the Secret Service has begun an investigation into the matter.

The Real Cause of Conflict in Gambia
January 21 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Reports emerging from Gambia said that Gambia's newly sworn in President Adam Barrow intends to establish a truth and reconciliation commission to look into the past 22 years of his predecessor time in office.
The report said that President Barrow has said he is acting against those clamoring for the arrest of Yahya Jammeh for him to answer crimes he may have committed, while in power.
The reports said further that the new president prefers truth and reconciliation commission against an arrest without establishing reason for such arrest.
The most annoying of the report is that it says it is avoid prosecution that has forced Jammeh into refusal to relinquish power. This information confirms the conflict that is said to have led to Jammeh's sudden reneging on his acceptance the of election result and congratulatory remark to Barrow.

Politicians As Cause of Own Misfortune
January 21 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
If losing election is a misfortune, which it is not supposed to be, then politicians are believed by the people as the cause of their own misfortune, anytime they lose election.
The relationship between the people and the politicians or elected representatives, are spelt out in the Constitution, and each is supposed to know own role, and not usurp each other's role.
But the politicians, have for a long time been usurping the people's role, not only in the United States, but all over the world. People' complain about the politicians' distrust, stretches from the United States to China and from South Africa to the Iceland and Russia.
A relationship that is supposed to be based on trust has been abused by the politicians, time and time again, and the people can no longer trust their own representatives, who have turned into owners with the owners make to suck and ask question about what has become their place in the scheme of affairs.

Happy New America!
January 21 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
It is natural that every time a woman is pregnant, she gives birth to a new child. The same is applicable to democratic countries that every time a new leader is elected, he or she comes with a gospel of newness or rebirth.
No new leader has been elected without a promise of renewal. But whether the promise is fulfilled or not in the course of governance, is another dimension.
In most cases, it has become manifest that these promises are hardly fulfilled, and this gives impetus for the emergence of a new leader, with another promise of newness or renewal.

Gambia's Jammeh Promises to Step Down
January 20 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Yahya Jammeh, Gambia's embattled former president, has promised to step down and go, reports emerging on Friday said.
If Jammeh keeps his promise, it will mean that Adama Barrow, the Gambian new president, sworn into office on Thursday in Gambia's embassy in Senegal, can prepare to return home and assume power.
The case has become a type of 'let's watch and see'. Given that he had first accepted the election result and later reneged. The situation in Gambia has switched against him. He has lost power and the people has switched allegiance from him to the new president, as the situation in the country and reaction to developments there have shown.

All Attention on Presidential Inauguration
January 19 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Friday is the day, when Donald John Trump will be sworn in as America's 45th president. It is the talk of the town by those who approve Trump as president elect and those who still have grouse against his election.
All attention has turned to Washington and it is one major question being asked about whether people will attend or not.
Everyone will like to attend presidential inaugurations. But many people say they don't have time, because it is usually the celebrities and the shakers and movers in the society, who are often invited to grace the occasion, and not struggling people like them.
True, some people say, how do you expect a man or woman, who is struggling to make money to pay the high rent and put food on the children's table, have money to pay their ways to Washington.

Downtown Manhattan as Protesters' Hub
January 19 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
It is most popular as the nation's financial district. But Downtown Manhattan has proved again and again that the place is much more than a financial district. A place known for money market and attraction centers of note like the place where George Washington first took office in early days is fasting gaining notoriety for public demonstration.
Remember the Wall Street and Zuccotti Park and the protests that was held at the park known as Occupy Wall Street? Something of the type that happened in Zuccotti Park is currently in major areas around Downtown close to the world Trade.
People are saying that protesters, who have turned been occupying a small space between Murray Street and Vesey street in the last few days are quickly making people to think that the Downtown Manhattan may as well be seen as protesters' hub.

Rand Paul Moves Repealing Obamacare Forward
January 19 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky has revealed that he has a formula for the search of a solution to repeal and replace Obamacare. The senator's revelation filtered into the public on Tuesday, and it seems to relieve the Party of a hangover over a deadlock about its intention to repeal Obamacare without a replacement.
Why is Senator Paul's revelation important in the current scheme about the need to repeal and replace Obamacare, a discussion that has been ignited by the President Elect Donald Trump campaign promise and the party's decision to kick the Affordable Healthcare Act into the dustbin of history?
When the Republican Party members first announced their intention against the Affordable Healthcare Act, Senator Paul was the only member of the party in the senate, who opposed repealing the healthcare without a replacement. He said he was not happy about the problems that have engulfed the health care program, but warned his colleagues of repealing the act without presenting an alternative solution.

Gambia's Disarray As Diplomacy Collapses
January 19 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Diplomacy has failed in Gambia on efforts to resolve the election impasse in the country. And no one knows or is certain what next will happen.
A photograph appeared on the Facebook on Wednesday showing a mass of Gambians on the streets. The picture is not about people in jubilation or celebration, but of people who are making their ways out of the country, to avoid possible catastrophe, which may follow the loggerheads, over the election impasse in the country.
Disarray. is the word that best describes the latest situation in Gambia. It is a story of sudden transformation from joy into despair and panic. From election victory joy, acceptance of defeat by the sitting leader and later withdrawal of his acceptance.

Disarray. is the word that best describes the latest situation in Gambia. It is a story of sudden transformation from joy into despair and panic. From election victory joy, acceptance of defeat by the sitting leader and later withdrawal of his acceptance.
Drought, Hunger and Danger of .....
January 18 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Kenya is in the forefront of ensuring that Kenyans don't suffer hunger, as recently manifest in President Uhuru Kenyatta's instruction to County governments about the need to help starving Kenyans, when briefed about drought in the country.
But despite efforts to ensure that hunger does not take the center stage and the starving are helped, the country will not open its doors to uncontrolled importation of poultry without assurance that such poultry will not endanger Kenyans lives.
According to the Kenya Daily Nation, the Kenyan government has banned poultry products from Uganda, because of the outbreak of avian flu in Uganda.

Many people wonder about why Manning has been pardoned, considering the nature of the offense of espionage, while others think that the president has the power to pardon whoever he decides to pardon.Manning, who has earlier been slated to be released in 2045 will walk free in May 2017.
Against Manning's fate is that of Edward Snowden and Julian Assange, both of who have been accused of espionage against the United States. Janaury 17 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
They have been saved from the pangs of Boko Harams' killings and have been living in the Refugee camp. But still, death find them by error, when a Nigerian Air Force attack mistakenly hit them and kill over 100 and injures many.
News report by the BBC said that Aid workers count among the dead and the location of the attack has been traced to an area bordering Cameroon, North East of the country.
The Nigerian military is reported to have, for the first time, accepts killing by error, and that President Muhammed Buhari is dismayed, but asks for calm.

The Johns and Their Fights
January 17 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
It is about John Lewis, the United States' Congressman, and The President Elect, Donald John Trump. They are both Johns by coincidence of their names and they are namesakes. And they are both fighters too.
Lewis has fought in the civil rights movement in an era of civil of rights, earned a heroic ovation and considered untouchable by his supporters in term of superiority and rank! But not as less privileged.
The other John, the president elect, has vanquished whoever stands up to challenge him and he has become a president elect, when his opponents and the entire world think he is a goner. He has refused to be vanquished.
But John the Congressman does not think that the election of John the president elect is legitimate, without giving a justifiable reason for his comment about what he thinks may have gone wrong with the election of his namesake, other than that the Russians got something to do with it.

End of Search for Flight 370
January 17 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Malaysian Airline Flight 370 disappeared from the air with its entire passenger three years ago. The aircraft seems to have disappeared forever along with all the passengers, as there has been no trace of it by searchers.
Today, an announcement by the Malaysian government to call off the search of the aircraft after three years does not get the approval of family members of passengers.
Questions are being asked about how their family members will board an aircraft from Malaysia heading to China and the aircraft disappeared in the air between Malaysia and China and there is no accountability about the whereabouts of their relatives?

January 17 2017 By Abiodun Giwa
Kenya MPs have reportedly told Kenya women to withhold sex from their husbands, until they are certain that their husbands have registered to vote! The MPs decision, announced by Representative Mishi Mboko, in Mombasa, and reported by the Standard Digital, has prompted questions about when voting turns a forceful act.

Children Are Our Future

What day is it that you can never forget? Some people may never forget the day of greatest loss to self and the family and probably a day considered a day of rebirth that represents a gain that temporarily eclipses the loss. In the tradition of Yoruba people, South West of Nigeria, it is a reminder of the day of birth, a day deemed as representing good and evil.
Elders say that the umbilical cord, called 'ibi omo', in Yoruba language, is the evil that follows every child at birth, and it explains why human life consists of good and evil. The good brings joy and evil causes fret, pain and sorrow. No human life is free from the two.
When you have a daughter, you are told that you have a birth that signifies a soft hand And when you have a male child, you are told you have an upper hand over your wife! So, when I had my first daughter in 1987 after my brother's assassination in 1986, could signify that she came with a soft hand and that my situation will become easier. And if not easier, it may not be as difficult as it had been before her birth.
